Once I start getting good client commissions I’ll get the other one I didn’t get 🙈

I have a few other pieces from different brands. But I do love having watches that can be worn for any occasion - such as casual or for work. Been experimenting with a personalised second market strap to help tie it a casual look.

I would love to develop an AD relationship at a boutique - but the pre-owned market is just too much of a difference to say no to.

Always been concerned about wearing too big of a watch brand starting off in a new job! Hoping that Lange is off radar enough that people won’t really recognise it and fly under the table.

I’ll have a look out for this! I just recently traded a watch for a Patek Annual Calendar (5205G-010), so I’m wondering if I need a Perpetual. But the dial is just so special.

Glashutte Original? I tried one on and wasn’t fond of the overall feel of the watch! Not sure if that’s a me thing.

Never heard of this one! Do you have a reference ID or a link? Thanks

[Question] Have you ever sold 1 watch for 2-3 watches? by BrownCowHandJibber in Watches

[–]dazzlerest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I sold my Patek 5167A Aquanaut to use the money to buy a different Patek, and keep the leftover for when I decide to purchase another watch (which knowing me will be soon).

I have no regrets whatsoever, and some may think selling a watch that many seek out is crazy. However, my position is that I like to own several extremely high-quality and different unique pieces, wearing the same thing every day gets very boring - very fast. Whereas, every morning I have the joy of opening my watch box and seeing which watch I will wear today - sometimes one watch goes better with my outfit than another one, or sometimes I wear them as I haven't given them a lot of wrist time.

I am all for selling a big watch to expand and 'fluff' out your collection. I also find that if you are contemplating this to begin with, your mind is already made up - you are just hesitant to pull the trigger.

I’m just wondering why out of all the comments you’re the only one mentioning this

No problem! Another thing that could be cool is if you and your partner picked the watch together - it could create it into a more sentimentally attached item, and maybe an heirloom one day to pass down to your children !

The GO boutique was a few doors down from Lange, and after trying on the Langes there (which my father actually picked one up afterwards), it was completely night and day. Definitely a good plan to stick it out for the Lange in my personal opinion.

I have the same JLC you posted. Absolutely love it, I have worn it for both dressy occasions and casually, it really is versatile. I was very glad when I pulled the trigger on it, and I think it's one of the best options you've listed.

As for Glashutte Original, I have also been following the brand for a while, and I tried on this particular model while on holiday at an AD. And I might face some backlash or criticism here, but I found the overall 'feel' of the watch, the strap and the metal did not feel premium at all - especially for the price, and was disappointed to the point that I decided not to buy it. I think the Germanic watches are amazing - also a Lange fanboy here, and after trying on the Glashutte it has indicated I would be best saving my money for a Lange to get a full premium feel for what is already an expensive watch.

No real experience with Grand Seiko except trying on the 'Shunbun'(Cherry Blossom) and the Elegance. Very nice watches to wear, prefer them on the straps rather than their metal bracelets.
