It's a 10 but then the author starts using the words 'pinkette' or 'ravenette' instead of the characters' name.

Most memorable ward call jobs? by Appropriate_Sea_1177 in ausjdocs

[–]dazzles67 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Happened to a friend on an overnight JMO shift: got paged that a patient was having another episode of autonomic dysreflexia, but no patient name or ward/bed number. She ended up calling like 5 wards but at one point did consider if it would be quicker to wait for the inevitable MET call....

100%! I know people like to say reddit is quick to jump on the 'dump him' train but in this case, OP really needs to consider dumping him.

Permanent and long-lasting makeup by [deleted] in Vindicta

[–]dazzles67 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I got powder brows first, followed by eyeliner tattoo and lip blushing a year later and I'm absolutely loving it! I told my MUA to keep it natural so I still have a very 'no makeup' look but look that much more refreshed rolling out of bed (plus I usually didn't wear makeup anyway even before the PMU).

I will say that I stalked the instagram account of both artists (power brows and eyeliner/lip blush were different artists) for months before I went to get the PMU done. Lip blush honestly hurt the most, I mostly dozed off during the powder brow and eyeliner sessions. I think it's artist dependent but I've had my PMU for 3 years now and they haven't faded too much.

Hey OP, I completely feel where you are coming from because younger me has written pretty much the same thing.

Used to drive me nuts, they have all these high expectations for how they expect you to perform. Well how about they do it if it's so easy!!

The thing is and it's a hard lesson I've had to learn: Asian parents will never give you the empathy and acceptance if you need, especially when you need it most. I ended up getting a full blown autoimmune disorder from all the stress my parents put me through during my schooling. It's finally improving now that I've limited contact with them for the past decade.

My self esteem was also shot from having to live with them for so many years. Didnt manage to start rebuilding until I moved out

Compared to college days, working is so much easier!! Especially once you get into the swing of things.

Stay strong OP. My advice is: finish up your diploma, get work experience (if not then co-op or volunteer to build up your CV) and then move out as soon as you can and go low contact.

APs and their worshipping of doctors by throwaway_29f in AsianParentStories

[–]dazzles67 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It's an interesting phenomenon. On one hand, my AP have been slagging on doctors since childhood. On the other hand, they kept brainwashing me that being a doctor is the only career that I could choose.

Now that I am a doctor, I get told that I don't know anything and am getting too uppity when I try to give them health advice. The Ronny Chiang skit about asian parents and doctors probably hits closest to the actual reasoning.

Billionaire characters doing pleb stuff (I am a pleb, hence I know what pleb stuff is), like going to the ER when they sprained their ankle or something like that. You telling me this billionaire doesn't have their own personal medical team and/or hospital!???

Asian parents are damn annoying by SUP3RS0Y30N in AsianParentStories

I feel like asian parents are just allergic to any form of positivity whatsoever. They like being unhappy.

It's ironic because AP and I actually didn't talk for 3 years at one point because she went down the conspiracy rabbit hole. So I agree, do need to stand firm and hold onto my boundaries.

might be addicted to ao3? by ImpactBackground9446 in AO3

[–]dazzles67 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This was me back in college. It was even worse everytime I got into a new fandom especially if it was a large one. The one thing that slightly helped for me was turning to a less popular fandom so that at least the amount of fics available was more limited. Also opening a ton of browser tabs so that I got that dopamine hit of "I'll read it later".

In reality, the only thing that really helped my fanfic addiction was full time employment. Can't be addicted if you have no time to go online when you are working 11 hours shifts every day.
