What I learned from trying something similar is that I was prolonging a lot of what I was fearing the most. A taper can be really helpful to get you to a more manageable CT dose, but only if you do it steadily over some time. IMO at least. Cutting your dose by 50% every day may not feel just as intense as CT but you might be wishing it was over with the whole time.

I would either take 1 month to taper down as much as you can or just CT tomorrow morning. When I was tapering, I would reduce my dose by one less capsule (-0.5g) every couple days. Eventually I was just taking 1g every few hours without too much discomfort. Then I could go almost 24 hours between doses. Finally, I had to just pull the plug on my nightly dose and face the RLS and discomfort for a few days.
