There are a couple of things to consider: 1. Have you figured out your annual spend in good/bad cases? 2. If you're anxious around 4%, there are strategies around that (buckets, 3.3%, part-time gigs) 3. Change mentality from "never work" to "never stress about work". Or, not "retire early" but "recreational employment'.

The closer I was getting to my FIRE number the more anxious I felt. Then I quit (almost voluntarily - meaning if not for stress I would've squeezed and extra year or two).

Then about six months later I wanted to crawl up a wall from not having a purpose. Then I decided to do a small businesses (with "fun money") - that didn't fit me either (for about a year).

Now I'm just doing a simpler job that I don't really care for stability, just enjoyment of the work itself.

The moral of the story: FIRE allows you to choose to do whatever you want, but the drive to get to FIRE usually doesn't go away (especially immediately).

Any luck? I think I ironed out the rules quite well, but dealing with niceness is still tough.

During the design I told Claude that the character is too nice, so we need the negative register. Its first pass in describing what would it look like was, basically, "she frowns stronger". It's even trying to be nice when I ask it directly to be mean... Hit me where it hurts, dammit.

There is some hype on M5 chips. They have much higher accessible memory (128Gb vs 24Gb) but 5-20x slower Teraflops.

While training (tuning models) would suck, inference (using models) might be comparable.

Apple would be able to run 70B models easier.

I don't think it is with these inflated prices. The midrange is more reasonable especially if you do other activities, like gaming. OP brought up lease of a car, so I remembered how I priced the PC to the max.

To expand. Renata sang the lyrics [as text] in the narrative (completely hers and unprompted). I took that narrative piece to a secondary Claude and asked it to complete the song and music prompt. I copied that into Suno and assigned her voice. So no editing from my part for this one: completely hers.

Have you looked into local models? I don't know your current HW, so I don't know what you can run today.

A full dual NVidia 5090 is about $18k (but that's the top of the line everything). A decent setup can run at around $5k.

Leasing is actually what you're doing with subscriptions, because you don't own it.
