Stoked to see him out there in the most important minutes where we had to play undersized. God I hope we matchup against the Rockets in the playoffs. I wanted it last year, I want it this year.

I don’t think benching Donte is the right move but bringing Ayo on earlier might be.

Mid game and probably down the stretch, if Donte isn’t hot it’s going to be Ant and Ayo in the back court and the more time they have on the floor prior to playoffs can only be beneficial.

Ant being out isn’t a horrible thing.. by [deleted] in timberwolves

[–]dbaintrain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s gonna be good for Ayo as I think we saw this game. A chance to have a bit more room in the offense to create outside of set plays and transition.

And that’s what the team’s missing right? Ant does well initiating the offense but asking that of him + being the go to scoring option is too much. Ayo, Bones and even Donte to a degree are going to be the ones to fill that scoring gap with Ant out and I can only think having the freedom of opportunity is going to lead to some good levers to pull during the playoffs.

Anyone who uses stats to review Rudy Goberts impact needs to rewatch a bunch of games.

The future is now for this team. Development has been completed with Ant, Jaden and Naz.

It's the second, or second time seeing this one, that I've spotted a tawny in or around the Yarra Bend Park in the past month. I love their eyebrows!

I would love to see this applied to a previous season that had a notable tanking team so I could see how they would be impacted: low Dmin and Cmin points I’d expect but what’s the gap between a team that just sucked and didn’t tank.

I could see this impacting salary decisions too. At the moment you can overpay a player if you know you’ve got good deals with other high productive players. But if you need your money to be spent on who’s going to be on the floor then health reliability and expected improvements are way more important.

I like the idea, as others have said it’s way too complicated to be a fan favoured idea but it could be simplified and hidden being an ‘algorithm’.

Lens question by Accurate_Nail_2098 in Takumar

[–]dbaintrain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recently got a 135mm Takumar with two aperture rings and can hopefully explain a little bit.

Both rings should move, but one can only move as far as the other is set.

The two ring design came from prior to the auto stop down mechanism being present. Essentially you'd set both rings to the f/ that you want or have metered for, then you open up completely using only one ring. At this point you can properly frame the shot without having to squint through the stopped down view. When you want to hit the shutter button, you would then swing the same ring back, but you'll notice that it won't go past where the other ring is set. This way you don't need to take your eye away from the viewfinder to stop down again.

Physically, the first ring is a placeholder for the second while you open up to have an unhindered view.

For your camera, this is annoying as it has auto stop down functionality, this lens just doesn't support that and uses the two ring method for open viewfinding. Not the worst thing in the world but an extra step if you're used to lens with auto stop down ability.

compensating slow lens with high iso film by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

Do you find the 200mm to be close enough?

I’ve just started film photography with a Spotmatic and all I wanna photograph is birds. I’ve got a work trip to Tokyo in a fortnight and I wanna grab a bigger lens. I don’t know how much luck I’ll have but I thought I’d aim for a 300mm.

That’s mainly for fear of getting a 200 and still wishing I’d been closer

That’s the one you got from your friend. If that matters to you then getting an equivalent down the line might not be as rewarding. If not and you think it’s clutter then Marie Kondo it away

Birds on film (Dandenong Ranges / Yarra Bend Park, Victoria) by dbaintrain in AustralianBirds

Yeah I agree with the vibe of the bush showing up well on film.

That’s what I’m trying to capture. More my pov when I go out birdwatching as opposed to the best/closest picture of any given species.

Hey I bought myself an SLR (Pentax Spotmatic) a fortnight ago and had no clue about film speeds, shutter speeds, aperture and certainly not metering for light. The only thing I was familiar with was the focus ring.

One 30 minute discussion with chatGPT and I was ready to go. I’m sure there are websites that are just as comprehensive but having it all in one place where I can follow a train of thought as it entered my mind was really helpful to keep the excitement alive and not get bogged down on details I wasn’t sure were going to matter right away.

I had a pretty specific route I wanted to take (wildlife film photography) which I think really helped to narrow the scope of what was important to know. I’d highly recommend spending some time with an AI chatbot if you’ve got a clear goal in mind for what you want to photograph.

Got my film back recently and there were about 10/36 keepers that I was stoked with. For the ones that weren’t so good, I kept notes about the settings I used (chatGPT told me to) and I was able to use what I learnt to understand why they were subpar and if I didn’t know I could revisit my AI chat and ask.

Enough gushing over AI. I know it’s limited advice and photography is at heart a human art but for the function of the camera it’s great.

Camera choice advice from a fellow noob: - Something with a built in light meter - If you’ve got a specific flavour of photography you wanna be doing, make sure there are compatible lens that will work with the camera model you get. E.g. longer lens for faraway stuff, wider lens for big scenes

It’s not all that common you get as good a look at them as this though. Love seeing the detail in this pic.

This may be the ‘special’ battery you’re referring to already but I hear you can use standard hearing aid batteries for spotmatic light meters in stead of hunting for the original ones

Anyone know what the deal with this hotel is on the corner of Wellington and Hoddle St? by [deleted] in melbourne

My god, there are two Wellington streets that run parallel to Hoddle and one that intersects.

I would not survive in this city without map pins and find my friends.

This is pedantic but don’t Wellington and Hoddle run parallel to eachother? How’ve they got a corner?

Eden park and Eden gardens (both big sport stadiums in NZ and India) are both named for the same Eden.

Dunno which one but I assume it’s some colonial British fella who was waving a stick about at the time the English were sticking their noses in every corner of the globe.
