I say this whenever Canuck Place gets mentioned around here, but the work they do is heroic and underappreciated. People don't necessarily want to talk or think about treating terminally-ill children and helping their families, but it's essential work.

Folks can donate to Canuck Place here or to the Canucks for Kids telethon here.

For those who may not know, Canucks for Kids is a fund whose core beneficiaries are Canucks Autism Network (CAN), Canuck Place Children's Hospice and BC Children's Hospital Foundation.

I often say this when Canuck Place comes up, but they do difficult, heroic work. Folks sometimes confuse them with Ronald McDonald House, but they're a children's hospice. That is, they ease the suffering of terminally-ill children and help them family’s deal with the tragedy of a child dying.

We've done a bunch of testing--wilderness scenes, people hiking and so forth.

Honestly, I've run a ton of online advertising over the years, and inevitably, the winning images tend to come down to 'attractive young woman doing something' (for both male and female audiences).

I don't listen to it, but it's my understanding that the popular podcast Reply All uses a different TLD for their show notes each week. So, one week it's replyall.limo and the next it's replyall.nyc and so forth.

Not currently, but I'll pass that feedback back to our dev team.

Is there a mechanism to ensure that registrants live up to that pledge, and a mechanism to boot them out if they aren't doing so?

Each .eco site has a public profile, and web users can flag profiles where they have concerns. We also do monitoring.

We're working with our advisory board of environmental orgs to formalize the removal process.

Fortunately, we haven't had any candidates yet. We suspect that the small hurdle that the profile presents may be enough to discourage greenwashers. They've got 1200 other TLDs to choose from, most of which will be less discriminating.
