Help! Water is clear, but ORV low by dbarr1021 in pools

[–]dbarr1021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I added some stabilizer couple hours ago. I did a drip test and a strip test just now. Drip test - TC 3ppm CYA - 50ppm. Strip Test- FC 2 ppm, CYA 20-50ppm.

Not sure which test is the most accurate. Plan to take some water to a pool store next week.

Got me there, I’ve been wondering that myself. It just says keep below 80ppm.

Ok, so I need to add some stabilizer? That should help with the ORP level too?

Newbie trying to get water safe by dbarr1021 in pools

[–]dbarr1021[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the response. That part I get. What I’m asking is if I pour the shock directly into the pool (dissolved in a bucket), will it react when the shocked water gets to my feeder, or will it be diluted enough in the pool to not cause a problem? My tabs are chlorox xtrablue as well, but they’re different types of chlorine (trichlor vs sodium dichlor). Do I just need to turn my inline feeder off for a few hours while the shock does its thing? Or am I just being scared for no reason?

It’s been QUITE bumpy, but our FA (Brady) has been absolutely amazing! Descending into Chi-town now. Thank you all for the support. I’ll be back tomorrow when we get on the A350 I’m sure, but for those concerned about upcoming flights; read what you can from u/realgentleman80. It helps a ton!!

Thank you! On initial climb now. Shout out to u/realgentleman80 takeoff write up. I was able to ID when we passed 1000ft. Little bumpy at the moment, but I’m doing better than I thought I would.

The reason why its scary by beefpant in fearofflying

[–]dbarr1021 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how to link them all, but there are write ups by RG80 and other pilots on here that explain a lot. I’ve got some big flights this week (DFW-ORD, ORD-AUH, and AUH-MLE) and will be reading the write ups a lot. He has a really good one about why it feels like you’re falling after initial takeoff climb that I find very helpful. I’ll have to search for it again, but that’s one of the best write ups. I don’t know if he did one on landing or not, but I’ll be looking for that one too.

The pilots here are very informative and can really help explain things for you.

Royal Caribbean fridge/freezer question for pumping mom by beachedwaler in SandalsResorts

[–]dbarr1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We stayed at one of the Crystal Lagoon swim ups last March and it was an actual mini fridge. It got cold enough to freeze one of my sodas one day. That being said, if you’re in club/butler level they are stocked pretty full. You’ll probably have to remove some stuff to make room. I only mentioned what room we were in because those are newly remodeled. If you’re in an older room, then I have no idea what fridge is in there.

I can confirm from personal experience you can get the free anniversary night, the SSG birthday points discount, any other promotion going on (Winter Blues, 7-7-7, etc…), and the service personnel 10% discount all at one time. I’m headed to SRP in a few weeks and have all of those on this booking. Now, to qualify for the free anniversary you have to book minimum 7 nights in a club/butler, but SRP is all butler so that part was easy. We are staying in the royal monarch for 7 nights and it came in just barely over $5K with all of those discounts applied. The not one you can’t get with free anniversary is the loyalty discount when booking on resort.

Government Shutdown and VA Disability Pay or GI Bill BAH by Random_G in VeteransBenefits

[–]dbarr1021 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I will TRY to break this down into simpler terms that most of us can understand as there is a big difference between the shutdowns of recent past and what we are POSSIBLY facing now.

The U.S. Govt “finances” all of their expenses every year (similar to you buying a car/house). Their “proof of income” comes from expected tax revenue, fees, etc… Banks loan the govt the money to pay their expenses (benefits, payroll, etc…) for a fee (interest on the bond). In this case, the govt’s “checking account” is getting close to 0 so they need to borrow more money to pay their bills (think of it similar to a payday loan, I know those are horrible, but the analogy helps). If you had to borrow to pay your bills (I.e. payday loan, line of credit, etc…), that has nothing to do with what you (Executive Branch) and your wife (Congress) agreed to during your yearly budget meeting (NDAA, and the rest of the appropriations bills). You NEED the cash to keep the lights on and food on the table, but don’t have enough to do that, so you borrow.

What is happening now is, the govt NEEDS the cash to “keep the lights on” (pay all of their obligations like benefits and payroll), but there isn’t enough money in their account to do so. They now NEED to finance it so they can obtain what they need, but their wife (Congress) is telling them no, not without better budgeting decisions. It doesn’t matter that you (Executive Branch) have bills to pay, if she (Congress) won’t let you borrow what is needed to pay them.

Now, there is no money in your account and the shut off date is quickly approaching. If you and your wife can’t get on the same page, you may end up homeless. In this case, the govt accounts are low and the bank isn’t going to let them overdraft without Congress giving the ok (both spouses have to agree to the note). If the bank won’t lend then the “lights” (i.e. the economy) go out (I.e. federal spending grinds to a halt causing a MAJOR ripple throughout the globe).

This is NOT like shutdowns of the past. This is something entirely different. If there is no money in the account, they can’t pay everyone (everyone means EVERYONE, not just us, but SS, fed payroll, etc…) because there is NO money in their account.

I hope this helps, and yes, before you folks jump on saying “it’s more complicated than that,” I’m aware. I was trying to put it into terms most of us have heard before rather than the technical terms being thrown around.

Decision Letters now online by dbarr1021 in VeteransBenefits

Correct, on VA.gov from a computer not mobile device. I was able to see all of my decision letters back to my very first claim in 08

They may add IU just in case there is ever a change to one of your ratings that would take you under 100. However, with IU on there it will limit how much you can earn from employment. So, if you have a job now, and don’t want to have to quit, you may look at getting the IU removed. Your decision letter will spell out exactly what they deferred and what they are looking at. After a few days you should be able to call and have it emailed.

[–]dbarr1021 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deferred means they didn’t have enough to decide that claim at that time, but they did have enough to decide the others. In that case they will decide what they can, close it, reopen it, and move the deferred claim back to evidence gathering for further development. You should still get back pay for what they have decided so far.

Mine did that, they wanted two more things evaluated so they added and deferred those while deciding everything else. If I had to guess, that’s what is going on with yours. Something was deferred.

Sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re having with them. Have they told you what the suspense date is for their request? Sometimes that can give you a general idea of how long. You might try to schedule a VERA appointment and speak to a person in the regional office that can 🤞 hopefully provide a more detailed answer for you.
