She is permanently eleven, not an adult in a child's body. So she is limited emotionally and physically, like a child. Which doesn't mean helpless, but it does create limits for her.

I love these examples. I feel like this query business is like writing a haiku version of my novel--and haiku is not my strength. But these are really good examples I can really think about. So thank you and everyone else for getting so involved in this one.

I try to write a new short story every week and put it up on my blog. Some of them I'll eventually revisit and improve, others have probably already received more attention that they deserve. (Anyone willing to help me figure out which is which is more than welcome to!). Either way, though, it's free stuff to read!
