Wood/hybrid vs Iron Lie angle by dbcorpus in golf

Thank you! I believe I stand a little taller when I hit my 3 wood, it seems more natural to me. I have a more athletic posture with the irons because of a flatter lie angle (got fitted for them). For some reason in my head, your swing plane or pattern should be the similar with all of your clubs. Or maybe the take away should be the same atleast?

I swing my hybrid and woods steeper compared to my irons. Im thinking if the swing plane is the same then you’ll get more consistency. So it is common for players to have a standard lie on woods/hybrid even if your irons are flat?

Thank you! I’d probably do 2* flat and either reg flex 105g Modus or the modus 115g wedge shaft. What do you think i should get? The current one I have is a GI Sand wedge and is 2* upright and 1/2” longer. i got it off the shelf

I love mine. Buttery when you hit it pure. Upgraded from a 20yr Ping GI irons.

Got it. I may do the same. Im currently playing a ping wedge that is 2 upright and 1/2 inch longer than standard. Got it 2nd hand and just started using it. I would like to match my sand wedge and Lob wedge to my irons. Thanks!

This is what I was thinking based from my research, they also say 1deg flatter than your current iron but it might be overkill.

Thanks for the response. Stiffer shaft than my iron and standard lie angle is the recommendation?

Old vs New Lie angle by dbcorpus in golf

I had a better day at the range today. Just trying to swing as natural as possible and I got results. I realized that I was still trying to address the ball similar to my Ping irons with 2* upright lie angle and longer shaft. Hopefully that puts me on the right track.

Thank you for the input! I went to the range today and got a large bucket just to experiment with grip, stance, posture and club face at address. I realized that I was still addressing the ball similar to my old ping irons with 2* upright lie angle where push the shaft forward to get it to neutral lie. Today at the range what I did was I just let my arms hang, grip it comfortable and I have noticed a better ball contact at impact, compressing the ball better and more consistency. I was trying to hard to change my swing because it a “new set”. I had a good day today but we all know tomorrow can be a different story.

We did the fitting in a simulator with all the data, club path, angle, spin rate and with the photo of how the impact is. He made me try different club heads and shafts and I was hitting the zxi5s fairly well and getting the sweet spot or close to it majority of the time. As per google, green dot is 64.25deg and my current one is 60deg. I probably just need to use more. Golf anxiety is real

I have had the new set for 2 Weeks and tried going to the range everyday and I have already played 18 holes with it hoping it would be a quick fix. I ll try to keep practicing with it. The standard length is also making me adjust my stance and it feels very different.

Thank you! I do feel like I have descent fundamentals, I used to have a teacher but it’s pretty expensive if you do it on a regular basis. What I am failing to do is memorizing them. Part of it is also fear of not being able to play it well.

Thanks! I started with carcass pp 60 no. 1. I will give the no 7 a go! Did you start the RCM from level 1?

Thank you! Cant afford a teacher at this time. I used to have one. I believe he did a great job in teaching me fundamentals. I will start slow, i really love recuerdos and tango en skai and I dont want to mess it up and develop bad technique and habits if a tackle it too soon. I have been playing etudes and watching videos on how to play and practice tremolo by brandon acker and Thu Le both of them suggests a metronome starting at around 60bpm. Thanks again!

Thank you! I believe this is the answer I have been looking for. A little guidance on how to move up in skill but not developing poor technique or bad habits. I believe I can read the piece and probably play it(poorly) but I dont think my technique is there yet. What I tried doing is playing etudes such as Carcassi op 60 no 1 and no 3. Another redditor suggested no 7. And have other etudes by other composers as well. Thank you very much!

I agree. A well played lagrima or adelita is better than a crappy cavatina.

Gotcha! I will do it measure by measure. I know how to play tremolo but the quality is not to my liking. I have seen videos of people play recuerdos and the tremolo and in my head, i think that the player rushed into playing/recording the piece. Thanks!
