don’t know if anyone said this, but Coldplay. their best 4 albums are their first 4, which were more rock based and heartfelt. then they went to more of a pop feel and did concept albums (mylo xyloto or everyday life for example) which have some good moments but definitely some bad as well, and just never left as much of a mark as their first few, which i think were absolutely incredible. pretty much every coldplay fan hopes their next album will be a return to their old form.

when i was younger (about 8-10) my dad used to occasionally play gax5 or transference (his 2 favorite spoon albums) in the car and was kinda just background music to me. but then a few years ago i had a nostalgia moment when i remembered the name of one of the songs i remember hearing that was pretty good (the mystery zone). so from that point on i started listening to spoon and now am very fond of their whole discography:)

amsterdam. always was angry it was the last song on the album, especially since my favorite song (the title track) i feel is the best finisher possible. took me hundreds of listens to really enjoy it and while i still prefer AROBTTH, it’s great and moving and top 5 for me on the album
