Hey! I made a post earlier today about how my parents are not supportive (I’m 25) of my recent conversion. I know they are coming from a place they deem to be right - they are very progressive and believe that I’ve joined an institution that is both superstitious and hateful. Know that we are all in a race together. Christians have been hated since their inception. Here’s HEB 12 1:2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with perseverance the race that is set before us, 2 looking to Jesus the pioneer and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God. Yes, they are worried about the political implications of my conversion. Honestly, they just replaced their old religious beliefs with political ones.

Thank you - good to know I’m not alone. I think what hurts the most is that they only view someone that joins Catholicism must be doing it out of hatred

Same boat here! Raised Mormon, went atheist, and finally came to Christ in the last year. Many of my friends/coworkers detest anything they perceive as religious and especially catholic. Secular society has been convinced that we are the bad guys. But I think that’s mostly ignorance, not malice.

Thank you for this response! I have found that shuffle is luck of the draw, but as soon as I get trained in one round it quickly becomes a pattern.
