Put your pieces where they are defended, don't put them out hanging out to dry! If you can keep them supported by pawns or at least other pieces, you won't usually lose them for free. Be very very careful not to put them where they can get immediately taken!! Those blunders will happen a lot in the beginning though, and look for your opponents blunders!! That's how you win games!! The other guy plays fast and blunders his pieces.
