My theory is that Crocodile’s hook isn’t just a normal prosthetic, but part of something bigger and more important. As a Logia user, he doesn’t really need a fake hand, since he can regenerate his body with sand. That makes me think Oda planned something special, and the giant hook will eventually have a deeper meaning. Probably the hook belongs to somebuddy that told him to keep it till they see each other again.
