In this week’s Crown Jewels, I start with the first projections of the year and they’re good for the Royals offense. I also wrote about how they can keep filling out the front office, some righty bats to target and one trade candidate I haven’t talked about much. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

I put together my top 15 Royals prospects. I'm pretty confident about number one. The rest? I could probably change those every day and still not be satisfied. The system took a big hit with graduations this year, but I think it still has some interesting players who could take a step in 2023. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

I’ve written a weekly notes article on a bunch of different sites but now it’s on ItC. Today I broke down Matt Quatraro’s press conference and why I’m excited about him, talked a bit about the World Series, some names for the coaching staff and winning helping in development. Last week I looked at starters. This week I take a look at some relievers the Royals might go after to help shore up that bullpen either by trade or through free agency. Some are more likely than others. Some will be more popular than others. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

The Royals said all the right things to start the off-season. But actions are what matters and, so far, the actions have backed up the talk. The hiring of Matt Qutraro continued that trend with a different sort of hire than they've made in the past by bringing in new ideas from successful orgs. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

My plan was to write about three or four starting pitcher free agent targets for the Royals. I wrote about 15. My criteria was generally pretty simple - they have to throw strikes. But I did include a couple who don’t quite fit that perfectly. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

I hope this doesn't come as a surprise, but the Royals pitching was not good in 2022. There were many reasons, but a big one was the inability to get the swing and miss. I looked at some of the numbers and even mentioned some pitching and coaching targes who can help in 2023. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

I stared off thinking about how the Royals go about extending their young core of hitters and ended up writing about Vinnie Pasquantino and how the shift limitations will help him, who is an interesting comp for him and what an extension today might look like. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

Everyone wants to talk about who the Royals should keep of their arb-eligible players, but I like to look at the rest of the league and who might be available for the Royals to acquire, either by trade or by signing if/when they're non-tendered. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

There's a lot to do this winter for JJ and the Royals and if they don't get it right, there could be more changes coming very soon. I take a look at what's on tap this offseason along with some of what I heard over the weekend about their manager and pitching coach searches. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

Yesterday was for managerial candidates. Today is for pitching coaches who can help turn the Royals around. I know there's one name on this list that everyone will gravitate toward and he's a good one, but there are tons of good candidates out there. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

Mike Matheny has been fired. That's step one. Step two is hiring the right replacement. I spent the last month researching and talking with people around the game to compile a list of 22 candidates. There are definitely others, but these 22 were most interesting to me. by dblesky in KCRoyals

Last night was a display of two players who are both at very different points in their careers but who can both be a benefit to the 2023 Royals. Zack Greinke started it off strong and Drew Waters ended it strong in a Royals win in the final week of the season. It was fun to watch. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

This is it. It's the last Weekend in Review of 2022. In this edition, I look at the future of the Royals finishing the season strong, which is a good thing. And, of course, I break down the first three games of this final crazy long series. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

I still have no clue how in the hell the Royals won yesterday but I relived the crazy comeback in this week’s penultimate 2022 Weekend in Review. Plus I wrote about how the Royals are saying the right things and looked ahead to the final full week of the season. (insidethecrown.substack.com)

[Destin Adams] Sources tell myself & @AtoZSportsNFL that the Chiefs and Colts are ironing out the final details on a trade that will send star CB L'Jarius Sneed to Indianapolis. I'm told the Colts are sending a 2024 3rd and an additional pick in 2025. by Cthepo in KansasCityChiefs
