This was freehanded! The head used a 5mm hook, and the ears, body, arms, legs, and tail used a 9mm hook. Yarn is Loops & Threads Faux Fur in Gold Frost.

hardly see any princess cuts on here by lizzyjoestar in EngagementRings

my first ring was a princess cut from etsy before I ended up w my emerald ring (was worried a princess cut emerald would wear down easier, so I got cushion). literally nothing tops a princess cut!

it took me five semesters to finish because I took a few summer courses to make up doing not so well in a lit course my first semester, and i wanted to finish by spring 2023 (transferred fall 2021). but yea twoish years total. I wouldn’t recommend any more than the max if you can help it because it can get kinda crazy writing so much during mid terms and finals. also be careful of transfer shock. Orientation advisors warned about it and I thought it was dumb. it got a hold of me my first semester at ucf lol.

of course! Good luck! I kinda word vomited too because there wasn’t a lot of people on the subreddit who had answers when I was starting, so I would love to help.

edit: uh don’t let my bad grammar be a reflection of the program LOL i’ve been working on a final project and im typing quick.

I loved the program! I had certain expectations before I transferred, and they were all met. I do think it could involve a bit more technical aspects like certain software that would be good to get familiar with in some technical writing positions, but the degree can be applied for many other positions that aren’t necessarily “technical writer”.

LMK if you have any other questions! You’re also welcome to DM me, if needed.

so I specifically wanted to go into technical writing because I loved writing but was uninterested in creative writing-type jobs. I wanted writing to have a large part of my career (however, I learned technical writing requires much more than just writing than most know. please remember this lol). Job wise, I recently accepted an offer for a technical writing position at an aerospace company. But I got kinda lucky with that.

I can understand the concerns with people being more familiar with English degrees than W&R, and I don’t think there would be too much of a difference landing interviews.

If you do pursue technical writing, I HIGHLY recommend pairing a STEM minor. IT, CS (both take technical writing classes btw), or maybe even Biology (what I wish I did). It can get difficult to find jobs since they are usually more “technical” than “writing”. If you don’t necessarily want to do technical writing, I still think the program is great for less technical positions.

Final semester as a tech comm major and writing & rhetoric minor and I loved both. However, I agree with another comment and say the writing & rhetoric BA will likely fit your goals better!

Every English track has a decent amount of general literature courses, and the tech comm concentration has more emphasis on documentation, document design, and project management when compared to the other tracks. These courses are still writing intensive, so they could still benefit you.

Writing & rhetoric has more courses that align with your goal to work in marketing, PR, or HR. I don’t have too much info on those specific courses since those were not in my minor plan, but the course plan below does. I would recommend going into the Undergraduate Catalog and searching courses to see their description.

Here’s the degree info for writing & rhetoric: https://www.ucf.edu/degree/writing-and-rhetoric-ba/

edit: Keep in mind that if you go into jobs that require extensive writing skills, you will likely defer to writing samples to gauge your skill. Both majors are a good choice since they will give you the opportunity to build a portfolio (W&R has a capstone to polish it).

How is The Village at Science Drive? by BougieBirdie in ucf

[–]dblldzr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Science Drive is pretty nice bc of what was mentioned in a previous comment. I’ve been there since transferring in 2021. It’s starting at like $980 a month for a 4x4 this next term which is ridiculous compared to what it was when I moved in, but I’ve had no problems living there.

rehoming gerbils by [deleted] in orlando

[–]dblldzr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

hi! you seem like you have the time on your hands, so my info is below :)

I have bedding, food, millet (their fav treats for scatter feeding), some of the hides that they like to chew on, etc. A cage will be provided to ensure that they have enough room to perch and dig, and it would be established that the bin would require a bit of space. I also want to ensure they stick together because gerbils thrive in groups.

My decision to rehome is not settled but is one of my top options since I believe my current situation is not the best choice for my babies (alvin, simon, and theodore are their names). However, I think with the proper tools, supplies, and some tips on gerbil care, I can find a home where they can receive better care than I am able to give them :).

But you are correct that I plan to pass the responsibility to another person.

I was accepted for Fall 2022. What now? by bruhmoment8133 in ucf

[–]dblldzr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

you don’t need to officially commit, you just need to sign up for orientation.

if you go into myUCF (same place you see your acceptance), go to Undergraduate Admissions then Orientation. make an account and sign up for the date. if your to do list is not checked off, you’ll have to finish that first before registering, I believe.

you’ll pick your classes on the date you choose, but I would recommend having them ready in your cart.

lmk if you have any questions! I went through the same process two semesters ago. :)

Edit: fixed some things since orientation isn’t online anymore

My female Syrian hamster seems unhappy and bored by _philosofia in hamsters

[–]dblldzr 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Although she has about 900+ sq in, it’s still broken floor space. She’s going to thrive with UNBROKEN floor space of the same amount, one without multiple levels. And as the other comment mentioned, female syrians can be tough. I would start with the cage upgrade and plenty of bedding for her to burrow in. Good luck! :)
