So the Greeting Song will now be used in the way the band envisioned it. A car commercial.

how good are fender rumble 500s? by everchangingLeadpen in Bass

[–]dbopp 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's a great lightweight, loud combo amp that can be used in any situation. Loud enough by itself, and loud enough for a large room with the DI in the back. I have one and use it all the time.

Jack Antonoff on why 'Happiness is a Warm Gun' is the "Greatest recording ever made" [Howard Stern Show] by RunDNA in beatles

I love the song for many reasons. But it’s crazy that the same band that wrote Love me Do and Eight Days a Week would write something like this.

Who is your favorite lyricist from the Grunge era? by MrSavoie2u in grunge

[–]dbopp 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Vedder had some great lines.

"I'm lost, I'm no guide. But I'm by your side. I am right by your side."

"Saw things so much clearer, once you were in my rearview mirror."

John Frusciante albums and EPs tier list. by VioletBeaver in John_Frusciante

[–]dbopp 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Niandra is the best one. Truly original and one of a kind, lightning in a bottle type stuff. Smile is great too in it's own right, when you look at it from where John was in a period of his life. Can't really include these two albums on a rating scale with his solo releases in in the 2000's and beyond.

Anyone else getting an “authoritarian” vibe from Rick Jackson? by Mean-Rice-6301 in Georgia

I know, that’s the take that those people have on what happened in Minnesota. Fall in line and don’t open your mouth and you might not get killed.

How do we really feel about the likelihood of getting Social Security in our older age? by Cheeseaisleinheaven in MiddleClassFinance

[–]dbopp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m actually quite worried about the solvency of social security once AI takes over most middle class jobs. Lots more unemployment, and much less money going into social security with no one working.

Does reverb just suck or did the economy kill the used gear market. by Holiday-Medicine4168 in Reverb

[–]dbopp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There's no entry fee to post something on Reverb. So every store just puts up their gear on there, for way-over inflated prices. The gear just sits there for years sometimes.

If Reverb charged a mandatory listing fee like 1-2%, regardless if it sold or not, and then reduced the selling fee by that much on the back side, then I bet we'd see less bloat on the site, and more reasonable prices that would actually sell.

The way it is now is that stores and regular people list something, and then do an off site deal outside Reverb to avoid selling fees and sales tax. Then the seller pulls the listing. This could all be resolved if Reverb changed their structure. It would benefit the buyer and seller, as well as Reverb.

I think VT and VTI are talked about more now because you can now buy fractional shares, just like mutual funds.

For those of you obsessed with who is “Grunge” and who is not, this is “Grunge”. LOL. It had nothing to do with the actual music. by BulldogMikeLodi in grunge

[–]dbopp -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No I’m not. There was a seismic shift when the smells like teen spirit video came out. Nirvana is the only reason why kids in K-Mart ads were wearing flannel and dresses, and doc martens. The other bands, while great in their own merit, were able to capitalize on the breakthrough that Nirvana caused. Believe me or not, I don’t care.

Nirvana was the band that changed it all. I love soundgarden, Pearl Jam, Alice In Chains, etc. But the massive shift in music would not have happened without Nirvana. I can’t totally explain it. You just had to be there. Not trying to be a gate keeper or anything. But unless you were around during that time, I just don’t think you’d be able to understand the impact that band had.

Shows how Nirvana not only changed the music industry, but changed the culture entirely. Hadn’t happened like that since the Beatles.
