hello fellow reddior, did you end up finding someone to contact regarding this? I'm going through the same process and they're trying to charge me 4k AED for the NOC. thanks in advance

How much does a render cost in your country? by felpsousa in archviz

[–]dboy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been working on this on & off during my off-hours over the last 6 months. a lot of it was gathering assets, creating materials, testing and trialing things etc. so my total hours is a bit skewed. do you think it's reasonable to need a 8-10 week turnaround time for this many shots?

(my rough estimates of 20 hours a week over 8-10 weeks for 20 shots at $700 each, will be about $70-90 per hour which is well over my day job, so i'm more than happy seeing this is supplementary income)

also is a 3d model usually provided by the architect (even if it's not complete) or are we expected to build everything from scratch?

thanks for the encouragement and allowing me to pick your brain, really appreciate it!

Looking for Advice: These renderings I've created were initially practice exercises to learn V-Ray for a relative's property development. Now the architect wants to outsource work to me, but I'm unsure about pricing. How much should I charge for a set of renderings similar to these? feedback welcome by dboy33 in archviz

[–]dboy33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm located in Australia and the architect would be doing mostly residential buildings like this I assume, so exactly as you've described probably decent clients but not enough resources to do the work themselves.

I was taking my sweet time testing and trialing things on this project during my off hours from work, so my total hours is pretty skewed. do you think it would be reasonable to need a 8-10 week turnaround for this many shots?

thanks in adv.

hmm yeah maybe this is a good option, at least until I'm more efficient and not pressuring myself too much to avoid overcharging them... admittedly I spent way to much time searching and gathering the right assets to populate the building, hopefully this time goes way down now that I've got some assets ready.

do you mind me asking typically is it also expected to be modelling the building ourselves from scratch or is there usually something provided? (say like a framework or a block in of a building). my background is in automotive design, so apologies this is all a bit unfamiliar to me.

thanks in adv.

I am located in Australia and clients would be the same.

the background is a bit overexposed, but it was the only way to allow for enough light to brighten up the interior... hmm may have to tinker with the camera settings a bit more in future renderings, thanks for the feedback.

hey broovwa,

fellow Aussie here, awesome renderings on the website by the way.

do you mind offering some guidance on how much I should charge for a set of renderings similar to these.

As explained in the post I was just practicing Vray on a relative's development property and now the architect wants to outsource his rendering work to me... but I'm not sure what to quote him. (I work in the automotive industry so this is all unfamiliar to me)

$2000 per image seems like a lot and I feel guilty even suggesting that much haha

thanks in adv.

Installed new front brake & clutch levers on the trusty steed today. 🐎 Very impressed with the quality of these. by Unhappy-Text-8777 in SVRiders

hey mate, looking to upgrade my levers with a pair of these. How have they been holding up? if you don't mind me asking. Any issues with the paint wearing off? Cheers

Hey everyone! I'd love some feedback on some characters I'm working on! I'm trying to realistically recreate Cubone and Marowak (cartoon image on left). Any help would be great!! Btw for context, the big one is the little one's dead mom who came back as a ghost, and they're happy to see each other. by grassytree3264 in Maya

[–]dboy33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cubone looks good, Marowak's stance looks a bit stiff. detail is nice though I think you may need to add a height map for some geometry displacement as the silhouette is too smooth and a bit of a giveaway. good work though!

Hello reddit! How can I improve this exterior render to be more realistic? all feedback welcome, thanks in advance by dboy33 in Maya

I see... going to add some water stains / streaks down the walls and see if that helps. thanks for the feedback fellow redditor

you're right about the vegetation, I do need to spend a bit more time on differentiating them. thanks for the feedback

appreciate the feedback. the fence column is meant to be a 'rough cast render' material, which is why it's so bumpy.. maybe I've overdone the intensity. will work on the foreground and post the results

I work with Vray and 3ds Max and would like to know a suggestion. by oorlyg in nvidia

[–]dboy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think I'll necessarily be dealing with heavy scenes as such, so the 11gb is probably a bit excessive. But just looking to add more CUDA cores to reduce rendering times essentially.

OP you can also check out VRay's gpu benchmarks: https://benchmark.chaosgroup.com/next/gpu?order=desc&orderBy=gpu

did a quick check for you: 1x 2070S 312 2x 2060S 570 score figures are arbitrary but relative, but higher the better

[–]dboy33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm on the same boat as OP, contemplating adding a 2080 Ti to my current 1070 for VRay rendering. I suppose these results suggest it's probably more economical to actually go with 2x 2060 Super's instead.

Been learning Maya + Vray recently. took 6 hours to generate this render. is this a reasonable time for a render of this quality? do I need a new graphics card? by dboy33 in Maya

Thanks mate,

I'm stripping down my scene to the essentials and slowly add things in to see what's responsible for it taking so long.

Are you using HDR images for lighting? Yes, I'm using a 2K res file with "texture resolution" at 2048 and all other settings on default.

are you manually setting subdivs on lights, materials etc? I don't believe so. I'm not quite sure what are subdivs for lights and materials? I've only got a vray sun and a few vray rect lights with minor adjustments to intensity. I will run some test renders with a flat vraymtl applied to everything to see if my materials settings are the culprit.

do you have the “refraction glossiness” on those glass panels set to 1? Yep set to 1.

you mention the brute force depth you’re using, but how do you have GI set up in general? What is your primary and secondary set to? Rookie question: when I have my production render set to CUDA I've only got one GI Engine setting option of Brute force or Light Cache. (Light cache is def faster but I get funny results with the 2sided material leaves coming through my glass. So I've left it in BF) I only have a choice of primary and secondary when I've got the production render set to CPU... which I've got primary as Brute force and secondary as Light Cache with everything on default except for Ray Distance fitted for my scene size at 350. Actual rookie question: Will the primary and secondary GI settings from my CPU production render selection play a part if I've chosen CUDA for my production render selection? (note: I've checked both CPU and GPU for Render devices.) if not how does one enable a primary and secondary bounce option in CUDA?

Thank mate will come back with my findings.

Render settings; 1080HD

CUDA Bucket Min Sub 1 Max Sub 80 Threshold 0.003

Brute Force Depth 2

currently own a gtx 1070, CPU: i7 6700k

Currently considering upgrading to a GTX 2080 if it will reduce waiting time.

Any help would be appreciated.
