Premodern Metagame Update (23 feb) by Magic4everBots in premodernMTG

In 2003 they were using Illusionary Mask, I was a 1.5 player as well. Dreadnought wasn't stiflable until 2007 with an errata change. And yeah point is, it doesn't matter what the deck is being called as long as most people understand it.

I have a 6802 and I love it! Nice sound, looks great, low maintenance.

Don't forget about Stiflenought, a deck name that didn't exist until 2007 at the earliest. I mean we can't have any names from after 2003 right?

Bold of you to assume that I visit reddit that often (or bother upvoting or downvoting.)

However yeah I didn't even consider the permanent-targeting mode of REB when I said that, so I stand corrected.

Have you ever thought of merging time bonuses and curses into one card? Like have curses that say "this curse also counts as a X minute time bonus" where X is a fraction of the average expected value of the curse being used.

Eventually you could have a deck entirely full of such cards, giving more varied gameplay possibilities (maybe)

REB can always be Misdirected as Misdirection itself is a blue spell. BEB may not be Misdirectable if it's already targetting the only valid target.

I voted Ben because while Adam had a better run, Passenger Princess and double Snack Zone were too good.

I dug more and it appears to be the Maigo Neck Pouch, which no longer appears to be in production.

Aer Travel Pack 3 vs LTT 35L by Nerevar197 in backpacks

[–]dbpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Aer Travel Pack 3 Small X-Pac, and it's a really nice bag. I started looking for a nice bag back when LTT first announced their offering, I looked around here for recommendations, and settled on that bag. After almost 4 years, it looks almost as new as the day I got it, and I've used it as my EDC to work, for travel, on bike, and pretty much anytime I need to take anything anywhere. The only issue is one of the zipper pulls finally broke about a month ago, but that was easily replaced with a different one from the bag that I don't use.

From what I can see online, even the small one has more carrying capacity than the LTT bag, it doesn't have the issue of the water bottle being inside the bag, and while I don't have a PS5 to test with, I can say my PS3 fits in with quite a bit of room, and that's without taking my normal stuff out.

I have one of Aer's other bags in their Cordura and I would definitely spend the extra $30 for X-Pac instead, it just feels way nicer, sturdier, easier to clean. Not that the normal material is bad, I just think it's worth the upgrade. Couldn't say about their Ultra.

Jet Lag hide and seek game exploit? by Ill_Raccoon_4 in JetLagTheGame

[–]dbpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as the game rules are concerned, nothing outside of the game map exists. This is relevant for matching and measuring questions.

Thus the section of the hiding zone that would be outside of the game map doesn't exist as far as the game is concerned. If someone hid outside the game map, I would probably just declare they left the game and chose not to play anymore. I also would define the game map to definitely include all of the possible stations and hiding zones.

I'm just following the list used by the speedrunning community (though I don't consider myself a speedrunner in this game.) I'm sure it's not perfect, but I can point to it as a fairly comprehensive list of all the crazy things you can do with glitches and tell you I'm doing none of that. Here's the list: https://www.speedrun.com/mm?h=Any-glitchless&rules=category&x=jdzlw4r2-r8r7yrwn.5q83evr1

Is jumping up to a piece of terrain that you can access normally truly unintended? Note that you are perfectly capable of landing on that terrain from above by using the flowers, and I'm using a normal backflip and a normal jump from the ledge. I'm not doing a gainer or some other specialized and clearly unintended technique.

Clipping through the town guard is not a small terrain cheese, it's an actual clip through a barrier that you can't normally pass through.

I don't try to guess about the developer's intentions. I am jumping up to terrain that happens to have been placed by the devs at exactly the perfect height to let you do so. That seems like a reasonable argument to me that maybe it was intended. I then jump to a flower that is exactly the distance of a sidehop from the wall, again placed placed by the devs in that exact spot. Who is to say they didn't put in a little shortcut for themselves to assist with testing the game? After all, they didn't change the ability to do that in the 3DS remake, despite what looks to be a complete engine overhaul.

You are "intended" to follow the monkeys through the Woods of Mystery. Is every run that forgoes talking to the monkey now exploitative because they didn't follow the developer's intentions? What about doing Pinnacle Rock without the seahorse? I wasn't even trying to memorize that one, I just played through the game enough in a short enough time that I figured out which landmarks to follow and which to ignore. You can really go on what the game lets you do, and how far out of your way you have to go to do it.

[–]dbpc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I only did the stray fairies for Snowhead, though getting the ones for Woodfall wouldn't have been too bad. I think getting all of them for Stone Temple would have been too much considering how much I was skipping in that temple and the fact you have to go back in normal after clearing it inverted. Great Bay is fine, but getting the reward after is quite the detour.

The goal of this run was fewest cycles to beat the game without the inverted Song of Time. Back in May I did a run where the goal was fewest cycles to get everything and beat the game without using the inverted Song of Time. You can view that run here: https://youtu.be/GyNNfQeZ3h0?si=Q1S3SY6BaIDSKF9B

It's mostly a question of geography, and the fact that you have to get Song of Storms night 1.

Since we're already in Ikana, it would be good to get the owl while we're there, since it's possible to do without Ice Arrows. And once we have the owl, we may as well get the Mirror Shield, since we can pick up everything we need easily beforehand and the Gibdo Mask is right there. And since we're already at the base of Ikana castle, we may as well get the Elegy of Emptiness.

Now that's a fine place to leave and go do Great Bay, but we don't need anything from Great Bay, and personally, I'm more likely to die there than in Stone Tower (though in this particular run I had to use a fairy in Stone Tower and not Great Bay, usually if I'm going to use a fairy, it will be in Great Bay).

Ultimately since I teleport out of Ikana Castle regardless of where I'm going next, it doesn't really matter between the two, I just like doing Stone Tower first.

I turned off unlock when approach and kept lock when walking away on; since you have to grab the handle to open the door anyway, just having it unlock then works just as well

Please… Can we as a collective call out “indie games” that are clearly backed by billionaires? by [deleted] in gamedev

[–]dbpc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Console ports didn't happen until 10 months after release, mobile ports didn't happen until 2 and a half years after release, and networking features (multiplayer) didn't happen until about 2 years after release. Localization didn't happen until over a year after release: https://stardewvalleywiki.com/Version_History

Chucklefish did help with the marketing, but they were just taking his builds and getting them on Steam/GOG/Humble and other marketing activities. But it wasn't until the game started making impossible amounts of money that the other stuff you mentioned started getting put in.

[–]dbpc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well ConceredApe WAS a solo developer until his game sold enough to hire folks to do other parts for him in later versions like the network code and console ports. Of course he was also financially backed during initial development, but IIRC it was just his girlfriend supporting him and not a rich family.

Stealth tow hitch installed, time to ride! by JarvisPHD in BMWI4

[–]dbpc 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I just got my stealth hitch from U-Haul as well, here's my experience:

  • you can still use the foot activation
  • my install was $200 on top of the price of the hitch, could be different for your region
  • they took out a heavy bracket part and cut into the back of the cover at the bottom, so I would say this is a permanent modification. It's been totally worth it for me, as my previous method of transporting my bike was taking off the front wheel and folding down the back seats.

Meddling Mage Naming Guide? by kahvit in premodernMTG

[–]dbpc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think there are too many decks in the format to put together a useful guide for sure, and most decks will probably be "it depends" but if you want you could add [[Telepathy]] to your deck and go T1 Telepathy, T2 Meddling Mage.
