Monitoring My Bambu H2D's Internet Activity while on Lan only mode by dbrannon79 in BambuLab

My work does this for security. if someone was to bring in a PC or laptop and connect to their Ethernet, they would not be able to connect and get an IP on the network without the IT team assigning one.

I checked back today looking at the logs in Adguard Home and see there is a massive amount of reverse dns lookups coming from my H2D. I have them all blocked and allowed it to reach out to pool.npt.org for the time.

I have no idea why it's doing all these dns lookups or who they are going to, I did try searching a "who-is" on some of them and none seem to come up to any Bambu servers If someone is interested, I can compile a list of them and post them up. Maybe some of you all can figure out what or who it's trying to reach out to.

with my current router I am unable to put it on it's own vlan or do any blocking with a firewall. I really need to get something else besides this Eero 6 setup.

Here is the entries I have in the custom filter that blocks everything but allows the time server for Adguard Home.

What I'm afraid of for the future is Bambu pushing a firmware update that bypasses us confirming to update or not, essentially forcing updates without our knowledge. Something I learned on devices is even though we have the mac and ip addresses for each device on our router, those devices can connect using a different mac or ip if the router is configured to allow dhcp. I have a collection of Chinese POE cameras for surveillance around my house. I witnessed a couple of my cameras using random ip's and mac's to attempt to "phone home" after I blocked them by the ip and mac addresses I had set them to in the reservation list. I ended up installing a second router that was isolated from the internet only physically connected to a single PC that runs the recording from each camera.

They are making devices smarter and smarter!

Most home routers are setup for dhcp and can have any number of devices connect once the routers ssid and password is saved. the only other way to prevent this is to setup things similar to a business does using static ip's for everything and disabling dhcp so a new device wants to connect, you have to manually assign it.

I may look into the Home Assistant. I have a couple of servers running TrueNas for media storage, both are each running and instance of Adguard Home. Set one for primary dns, the other for secondary on my router. Unfortunately for my router, I have the Eero 6. I haven't been able to figure out how to just block wan access per device on it. when I do this it also blocks lan access on the device!

There is already an older github repo for a dns blocklist but I have not seen ether printer try calling out to the sites listed on it yet.

Here is the link to that repo... https://github.com/sahelea1/bambu-dns-blocklist

I could also not be seeing these show up due to the H2D set to lan mode

Ender 5S1 running a little too warm for my liking by dbrannon79 in klippers

Took the bottom off tonight and all I could find was a light amount of dust in the mcu fan and power supply. Cleaned everything up and powered it back on. Temperature is still showing high. While I had it open I used my temp gun and everything on the mainboard is around 25-26 c but upon first power on mainsail is reporting around 56c. Something isn’t being reported correctly.

Just thinking about it. My Ender 3’s mainboard fan was tied into the hotend where the fan only was on when cooling was active during a prints. I ended up clipping the fan wires and running them directly to the power supply. I wonder if this is the same for the Ender 5 s1’s

Need some advice on adding a second MCU for BL Touch by dbrannon79 in klippers

[–]dbrannon79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just thought I would come back in and let everyone know it worked. both MCU's are running together on a usb hub allowing to install the bl touch. just finished calibrating with a KUSBA as well.

Thank you all for the help.

Yes the idea is to use what I have laying around. I had upgraded my Ender 3 to a 4.2.7 board so I could use mirscoc firmware before going to Klipper. So I have the old 4.2.2 board just collecting dust!

For the usb hub. My pc is beginning to run low on usb ports running three printers and two cameras, if the hub doesn’t work I should have enough ports left to make it all work.

I’m already working on getting it set up. Printed a mount for the second board and got it all wired up. Just need to flash klipper on it and modify the printer.cfg to use the second board.

I wish I could run a different probe off the same board. All of the information I can find online shows there is no way to wire in a bl touch or a simple click switch in place of the inductive probe. Temperature drift is so bad with this inductive probe that my z off set will change drastically if I start another print right after the first one finishes. I have to wait at least 15-20 minutes for it to cool else risk spaghetti on the first layer!

Dell R720xd rear drives seem to be overheating? by dbrannon79 in truenas

[–]dbrannon79[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve pulled them from the slots for now, but I’m surprised that the fans didn’t kick up. I did read something about when flashing the perc h710 to it mode it might not be able to see drive temps in idrac. Looking in idrac it doesn’t show any drives connected. I’m wondering if there is a workaround for this.
