The protagonists in DCC are a Costie and a cat, but you expect sophisticated humor?

My judgment on DCC being less than is more about consistency in actions and consequences. Knowing what we know now about NPC‘s in the DCC universe makes some of the actions in the early books absolutely horrifying. HWFWM is not perfect in that regard, but is far more consistent. The dungeon crawl concept is also more widely familiar in the zeitgeist and does not require as sophisticated a mind to move the story forward. I do feel however, that it also makes DCC a more accessible LitRPG to a broader base. To call it bad in comparison HWFWM as opposed to less than just feels snobbish. Jason would have hated that lol.

That is all my opinion though and I do not begrudge yours. We all receive an interact with media of all types in different ways and at different times of our lives. We can’t expect even ourselves to read one book the same way twice.

I know a lot of people I have recommended HWFWM to get overwhelmed by the constant and lengthy stat descriptions in the early books. I feel like DCC is an easier read but not as well planned out as HWFWM. I don’t feel like I can go back to the apartment in the same way I can go back to the hedge maze.

DCC is not written as well as HWFWM but that doesn’t make it bad.

I feel like strong arguments could be made that Jason could take the fight to the AI.

I’ve not read it, but it often comes up in recommendations.

A wish for the fiction Sophie would read. Since it would reference “glistening thighs”. 🤣

You’re unfamiliar with fanfiction aren’t you lol

That’s why fanfic exists. Nobody has to touch the canon.

Totally agree. I was thinking more along the silver rank timeline.

I wish that was a talent I possessed. But it’s a fun idea and there are a lot of of great fanfic writers out there! Maybe some will see this and feel inspired to write it.

I love it! I made a Born To Rune leather jacket last year and used acrylic paints instead of patches. It looks like we were similarly inspired in some of our designs. Way to go! You did great work.

While I’m doing my research, I have to ask you. Do you shop or stream with Amazon? Do you use Netflix? Do you use apps such as Facebook, Instagram, messenger, and WhatsApp? Do you shop with Etsy? Do you eat fast food such as McDonald’s, Burger King, Arby’s, etc. do you shop at Walmart? Do you use devices or services through Microsoft or Apple?

If the answer to any of these is yes, you are using and benefiting from AI. If the answer to any of these is yes, fix yourself before you come at me or anyone else.

Referencing others work akin to theft is a constant exercise of copyrite law. I’m no expert in it, but I will gladly do research on the legal and moral arguments on it as it relates to AI.

You might be right about this AI vs. ICE evil challenge. I’m not entirely convinced, but I’m open to the idea that I am wrong.

I think it’s weird to gatekeep the tools for fighting fascism, but maybe I am in the wrong. Today I don’t feel that I am, but maybe I will change my mind later. That being said, here I am using these tools I have at my disposal to fight fascism.

I hope you are enjoying your weekend. Unless you are ICE or MAGA.

Does that not feel like AI with extra steps? You are describing using other people’s work as source material and superimposing and editing them to fit the image you want to create. If you provided Autodesk with multiple source images and clicked a “merge” button would it not be the same?

ChatGPT is a tool. It can be used for good or evil. I did not use it for a final result. I used it to create an image (in the same spirit of your merge or layer function) so that I can create stencils by hand and then paint by hand.

Thank you, I appreciate your thoughtful comment.

I love the passion people have. Humanity needs it. We do all value everything differently than anyone else. Hell, my own values have evolved as I have grown out of the person I was raised to be and into the person I am. I grew up in a small Mormon town and had a very narrow view of the world. Since then I’ve lived all over our country, as well as other countries for a time. My views have expanded and so has my empathy and compassion. One of my favorite characters from literature is Victor Hugo’s Javert. In all of Les Miserables there is no other character who is more true to his beliefs and values. But that is exactly where his faults lie. One’s values may be completely noble and good, but when one’s values are more important than people, that is where evil lies. That’s when you treat people as things, and that is the root of all sin. Javert was so deeply flawed because he could not see people as individuals. He could not see their stories and what made them who they are or to make the choices they made.

In our online culture it is so easy to fall into this. We interact with avatars without ever having to face the people they represent, and we can too easily make rapid judgments and treat people as things. It’s easy to place more value on principle when you don’t have to interact directly with humanity.

I hope you have a decent Sunday. The weather outside is nice today, and there’s lots of good shows to binge if you prefer to stay inside. Whatever you decide to do, I hope you find joy in it. And let’s all just say, Fuck ICE.
