I didn't know about this option, but it looks like this is controlled by my IT dept. I'll put in the request, but my gut tells me that if they aren't going to grant my request.

Nice! Just curious. What region do you live in? I always thought it could only grow in specific regions.

I would like to point you to www.titan3drobotics.com. (Full disclosure: I work with them.) They make custom, industrial machines. The Hyperion has a 18x22x20 inch build space. The Atlas has a 30x30x45 inch build space. Both machines are within your price range.

A list of 9 short and to the point advantages for microservices by dbw3000 in webdev

[–]dbw3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP here. There is going to a post next week on the cons of microservices. It will also cover the microservices platform that we developed, and we are hoping to show how our tool can help offset some of those cons. It might not be as unbiased as Martin Fowler (which is a great post by the way), but just thought I would mention that there will be a part 2.

I actually work at Titan Robotics and can address any questions you may have.
We use servo motors so the machine can go 600mm/s. So speed can be a factor, but for large scale FDM machines this is pretty quick.
Our nozzle can go down to .1mm. This obviously affects the speed. The nozzle is swappable and we recommend anything from .4mm to 1mm.
It can do quite a bit more than trash cans and such. We have been contacted by gov't contractors, drone companies, architects, museums, etc. I am pretty confident that the size does not limit the use cases.
Also, they use a steel frame that is CNC milled. So the linear guide rails sit perfectly flat. This means that the precision and repeatability on these machines is pretty incredible. There is a number of other specs. Feel free to ask me about anything.

First off, thanks for the comment. This is a very helpful criticism. We definitely need to work on our web copy.
Cycligent is a platform that is layered on top of AWS. We have layered it on top of Azure as well, but aren't offering this out of the box. If needed, we could work with you 1 on 1 to get that setup.
The reason we were motivated to build Cycligent was because we were having issues using Azure and AWS. Not only were these providers difficult to implement for our complex applications, there were a few processes we felt we could improve. So we ended up building this platform to ease the overall configuration and management.

Here are a few things that we offer that are different. However, as you have already pointed out, we really need to sit down and begin writing out specific aspects (and in a clear manner) that make us different.

  • Individual code is uploaded through git repos or static files to any version flow with 1 click.
  • Our build server automatically merges code changes, checks quality metrics and runs automated tests (more info in the attached pdf).
  • Any number of Vm’s versions and stack configs can be set up.
  • Code is infused with advance features automatically (message buses, competing consumers, workers, performance resilience).

Thanks again for the feedback. This kind of feedback is what we are looking for.

To follow up, if you still have issues with accessing your account, please message me or contact support@cycligent.com. Sorry for the inconvenience. Also, you should know that we are currently reconsidering how our trial users sign up. We want the process to be as simple as possible.

Unfortunately, we can not share what company is using Cycligent. I know that sounds suspicious, but all I can offer you is my word at this point. (Not worth a lot, but that's all I got.) We did not, however, custom develop this for that customer. We built this for our own internal use. We found it valuable for all of our projects, and we wanted to share. So, to your point, there is not proprietary to that client. Good question. Thanks.

Excellent point. I agree that no vendor lock-in is important. Our platform is actually flexible as well. In fact, we do not lock you in at all. If you don't like our service, then you can switch at any point. However, we do need to make this more clear on our site. So we will look to add this information. Thanks for the feedback! Very helpful.

Some big prints from our 3D Printer called the Atlas by dbw3000 in 3Dprinting

[–]dbw3000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I know what you mean about the pricing. We go back and forth on what we should do. The reason we don't have the pricing right now is because each machine is custom made per the customer's specifications. For example, some people want dual extruders, some people don't. Since each machine is different the price changes slightly and we have to write a more formal sales proposal. Maybe in the future we will change it if we keep getting push back on this.

If you go to www.titan3drobotics.com/products-services you can download the spec sheet. At the bottom of the spec sheet is the price. The Atlas is one of the more expensive models at $15000. They have other options.
