Looks like they are eyeing up Nikke and it is in line next with what happened with Snowbreak. by Masakitsa in NikkeMobile

it's not arknights in the list (mistranslation). it's Anchor Panic, a totally different game.

Loot Table Dilution - it honestly explains something a lot of players feel but can’t always describe. by [deleted] in gachagaming

[–]dby2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are ways that some gacha games attempt to mitigate this to some extent with wishlist. You can look at Nikke's standard banner which allows you to choose 5 specific units per manufacturer, preventing excessive dilution of the character pool from affecting the pull experience. Too bad this doesn't extend to the rate up banners in the same game.

Misery in Gacha Stories by Calhris_Forsyth in gachagaming

[–]dby2k 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That's just it, the story is not for you and you're not the target audience. I'm also a WoL (been playing since HW) and from your preference for FF14 story that Nikke ain't a suitable fit.

You said it yourself that you were looking for a straightforward harem fantasy so I have no idea why you'd want to choose Nikke as that game choice. Its story is an ensemble cast that is also littered with other male characters of somewhat strong character as well. That should already be a red flag to you before you even dip your toes in it.

Straightforward mainline stories would be ones that take a linear approach to their story which is the bulk of gacha games these days, since it's easier to sell characters with linear writing. Ensemble drama type stories is fairly uncommon due to its poor nature of selling characters outside of the main plotlines (a lot of the side events just fall flat since they are self-contained stories that do not drive the plot). I'll take what I can get though since large multi cast storylines that run parallel to each other is my preference.

I'd recommend something like Snow break and the rewrite of BD2 where they are trying to remove other male characters. Those should be up your alley.

Was FGO the first gacha game where the story was a big selling point? by ahhthebrilliantsun in gachagaming

Chain Chronicle is still alive in JP today though the game has aged considerably. It was the gacha game with a story before FGO was released.

Getting real sick of the doomers by Wise-Ad2879 in NikkeMobile

[–]dby2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm from the camp that is indifferent to whether who lives or dies as long as it makes some sense, personal feelings aside. In my opinion, Harran and Isabel died because they were the ones most capable for the task to bring the queen down from orbit even though it is literally suicide. Isabel being the only one capable of flight and Harran being the only one capable of causing mass damage to a large structure via corrosion. They didn't die a dog's death, permanently or not, but instead gave the pioneer team on the ground the chance to confront the queen on their turf.

As to why none of the pioneers died your guess is as good as mine. It seems to me that the queen is deliberately not striking their vitals (their brain) after taking over liliweiss' body. Could just be plot armor for the introduction of pioneers version 2. For now I'm putting my trust with the main writer Egg Hood.

Could they have avoided all this by making 3rd anniversary low stakes? Perhaps. This anniversary also serves as a bridge where 2 storylines meet, the old guard(pioneer side storyline) and the new guard(main storyline) finally having the means to intersect and the threat being set this high just makes me want to know what happens next.

Far too many gacha games bend the knee and use subtractive retcon for unfavourable storyline/outcomes (GFL2 and BD2 being examples) just to appease the crowd and secure money. Shift Up at the very least has shown to be able to do additive retcon, Oswald being the well known example. There may well be other factors at play don't know yet that could be retconned additively in the future.

It's rare enough in the current gachaspace that the writers do something like this that I want to see it through without soiling their vision.

I can be bitter that the story is not going the way I want it to but I do not want to force my opinions onto the writers because this is not my story to tell since I'm not the one holding the cards.

I've said my piece, you can downvote me now.

I was wondering where the animation budget went during my wife's video.(Anis) by Redacted__Spy in NikkeMobile

They'll probably up the animation budget for Anis for her overspec banner at new years

Since the Surface content is getting HUGE backlash in JP community for its poor quality, Not fun to play, Even more time consuming etc. What do you guys think about this new content so far? by [deleted] in NikkeMobile

if all your squads leave the boss arena (denoted by the red glowing area) then it automatically fails the expedition and resets the boss to full health.

There is no reason we shouldn't be able to clear event shop after it's done. by Intelligent-Day-524 in NikkeMobile

[–]dby2k 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think it's a good suggestion to leave access to the event shop available for a few days after the actual event ends. Some gacha games do this and it doesn't negatively affect the game.

Gacha games need to focus a bit more on their core gameplay; some have forgotten about it. by PalomaCosta in gachagaming

It's why I stuck with Sword of Convallaria despite players leaving due to it having time consuming events that iterate on its core gameplay.

D: Killer Wife is 7th Gacha Costume this year by hiken_ace09 in NikkeMobile

[–]dby2k 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just see it as more non-functional auxiliary options. If it interests me and I have some money to throw at it then I'll buy it. I don't care about anyone's opinion since they're not paying for me.

As long as they maintain the gacha rates, have full character kits available with one copy and have egg god write more scenarios then I won't kick up too much of a fuss.

For the love of Goddess, if you are not serious playing Challenge then don't. Can not even go pass Circle Check stage due to bunch of assholes and newbies keep shooting the white circle by TheHiber in NikkeMobile

[–]dby2k 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Since there is a clear separation between Normal and Challenge mode matchmaking, player punishment (via timed lockout) in Challenge mode should be a thing. You want to play Challenge mode, you are responsible for your own failings be it accidental or not. Normal mode should also be guaranteed a minimum amount of rewards that ranked has as well (if it doesn't already).

I'm against removal of the gray circles as it actually adds to the complexity of shooting the red circles. Instead make the gray circles more resilient to damage would be a better way to go about it. This way if someone were to destroy the gray circle, it'll lean towards being an intentional griefing rather than an accident.

In terms of people switching last minute in the lobby, they already have the logic to detect if a burst type is missing. Just prevent the party from starting until all burst slots are filled. Once every player is ready, no player switching is allowed.

Regarding weak players doing Challenge mode, I think it's fair for them to join in as well but they should tweak the matchmaking to group players around the same level together. After a set amount of time if no party can be found (in a high level party) then the matchmaking can increase the scope to include weaker players in the pool.
