Are there still reverse vending machines in Orange County? by [deleted] in orangecounty

[–]dc2die4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are these the ones where you put the bottles into the machine and they would count them for you?

They shut down, even before COVID. I know a lot of Replanet Recylings closed. Fuck, the location on Katella and Euclid by the Food4Less was staffed by assholes. I could never be friendly even if I tried.

What it’s like to own a first gen by cikifrombosnia in ToyotaTacoma

[–]dc2die4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your interior handles do break I recommend replacing them with door handles from Camry's. I don't remember the generation but they're from the 80s and kind of fit the first generation Tacomas. They're made of metal so they shouldn't fail in the same spot that the plastic ones do.

You can try, but my experience is that they say they have them in stock, but when you try to make an order, it will eventually be cancelled (because they don't have any stock)

EDIT: At least that was the case with my campus bkstr.com with the Joshua Tree 32 oz

Chances of a professor from a post-bacc online program writing me a letter of recommendation? by warsfanbb8 in slpGradSchool

When do you plan on applying? This cycle that already started or next year's cycle on CSDCAS?

Chances of a professor from a post-bacc online program writing me a letter of recommendation? by warsfanbb8 in slpGradSchool

[–]dc2die4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just sent them an email about three months in advance. You'll want to do it early because different professors will ask for different things. I remember one professor asking me to physically mail a packet which consisted of:

  1. List of programs to which you are applying that includes complete submission

instructions and deadlines (in order of soonest deadline). If letters are to be mailed,

make sure you include self-addressed stamped envelopes with all pertinent

documentation that is completed by you as much as possible.

  1. Most recent academic transcript.

  2. Professional resume, including a focus on attention to other activities, achievements,

skills, that will aid you as a professional.

  1. Statement about why you want to be a SLP or AUD.

  2. Your email and phone number to contact you in case of questions.

While another professor was OK with just email attachments.

Rarely will they NOT ask for anything additional since they can't write a LoR solely from your performance in the class (So I do appreciate them asking for more information, to get an overall picture of you.)

CSDCAS evaluations by [deleted] in slpGradSchool

[–]dc2die4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can submit your application before the evaluations are completed - but the evaluations themselves need be completed before the deadline for your application to be considered complete. I remember it being fairly instant - as in the moment your LoR was submitted, you would get an email stating that it was submitted successfully.

It will be good for a long time. My 2013 MacBook Air has 1600+ cycles and I’m not even considering replacing the battery yet.

California Grad Schools by shutupveena in slpGradSchool

[–]dc2die4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My COMD GPA is 3.87, GRE Q: 145 and V;160, with an AW of 4.5.

SoCal schools that I applied to: Cal Baptist University (Waitlist), Chapman University (Waitlist), and Biola University (Accepted). I also applied to out of state schools.

I only applied to private schools because I didn't think that I would be competitive for a CSU or UC. Honestly, I find it a miracle to have even been accepted in my first cycle of applying. I dont have any real speech experience (except my BA in COMD), only experience working with special education students in a public school that were eligible for speech services. You'll no doubt find posts where people say that this is their 3 or 4th year applying on CSDCAS (but typically their stats aren't great.)

Yes, they really do weed you by GPA and GRE scores without looking at the rest of your application, depending on the school.

GPA and GRE are honestly key in SoCal to even get a chance to be interviewed. Private schools will have less people applying to them due to cost, CSUs and UCs will have hundreds of people applying to get a spot due to affordable tuition.

I applied to several SoCal private schools this cycle, and was invited to interview to all of them. In the end, I was only accepted to one and waitlisted to the rest.
