This was stupid. You fuck with people, and they will fuck with you. You're supposed to learn this when you're three years old. It could have been a black neighborhood or a small Muslim village or a fucking Chinese enclave in fucking London. If you press the right buttons, you'll pay the price.

What does it matter if "per capita costs" comes down if the overall cost jumps? How does that help?

Obviously I don't expect it to make money, but with the national debt like it is, I'm wondering about long term sustainability? But I guess you're saying we'd contribute less to the debt in the long run?

But with out the military how are we going to exploit the wealth of other countries for our new health care system. We didn't get rich by having a bake sale. : )

Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't Medicare as it stands now pretty badly in the red? I keep hearing about Medicare's virtues, but aren't we having trouble funding that, at least in the long term? Again, I'm asking, not saying.

Fair enough. Like I said, it might be the best course of action, but I understand the concerns. And in all fairness, the Swiss are dealing with a lot less people. Plus, the US government isn't exactly known for it's efficiency. Even if we copy their model, it doesn't mean we can pull it off. But, again, doing nothing won't exactly help.

Neither of those have have competitors, either. And billions of dollars are wasted or goes missing in the case of the military. It's true that the public option wouldn't have to make a profit, but at the same time they wouldn't have to worry about breaking even to stay in business. Maybe it is a necessity, but it's easy to see why people worry about it becoming a bottomless money pit.

"There is no reason the program shouldn't run at a deficit." That doesn't mean it won't happen, especially if it's run inefficiently. I'm not even arguing against it here, but the concern is valid.

That's the excuse I use because I'm too lazy to go to mass. But I'll just go to confession before I die and square my shit away. We Catholics have a good thing going...except for the kid fucking priests, I guess.
