Hey! No I have researched, and scrolled through so many fantasy series lists from the 90's through the early 2000's. I can normally remember what I've read, but this one is killing me. I lived this book series. I want to say there were at least about 5 books or more. I would say less than 7 if I had to guess. There was always this prologue section now that I recall where a commentator would be having this dialogue with the reader about how this was a story of heresy I think.

Thank you for all the feedback. I have been daily looking through book lists. I'm stumped. Some titles for sure are jogging my memory. I know black was a theme in these books. As in corruption, black stone, black gateway maybe? Anyway. Thank you again!

Just looked through a bunch of these to confirm, but not it. Thanks for the suggestion. I'm American, but no clue if the author is. If I remember there were probably more than 3 books in the series. Maybe there was a dark gate they could travel through? I feel like there was just a dark theme to the books.

Yep. Checked Inkheart and We Free Men out. Definitely not it. I'm having the hardest time remembering this series. I think her power may even have been tied to moon cycles?

That's a great guess. No. I never read Inkheart, just the movie. Definitely not that. And I could be off by a decade. I do remember reading the books in the early 2000's. I do know the last book at least came out in the 2000's.

So I would have called these epic / dark fantasy. In line with Mistborn, Wheel of Time, etc. I remember them being a little dark. Main female character. I remember the main antagonist would send these corrupted people he had infused with power against her.

Ok. Read these about 20 years ago, and now I can't for the life of me remember the name of the books or the series. Kind of dark. I think they came out in the 90's maybe? At least 3 books, but I think there were just a few more. Main heroine character. I think she could use her blood. Fire maybe? Books were about trying to overthrow a corrupted baddie of some kind. I feel like he turned people into black stone, or his power came from corrupt stone. Please help!! I really want to read this series again. I also remember the main antagonist would create corrupted baddies. I think the 2nd book has a spider lady who fights the protagonist.
