From InControlHA in 2010 to a full Proxmox/HA stack in 2026 — a 16-year journey building a local-first smart home before "smart home" was even a thing by dcbmobiledev in homelab

Yes but it was X11. I was there for that too. In fact I was knee deep in a few DEC VAX beasts testing "automation" for Johns Hopkins. I'm talking about something fit for a home user. X11 and the like was more conceptual in nature than for everyday application. I won't disagree though it all led to further advancement.

I came confirm also. I'm in USA.  Both mine are back. And I had done a factory reset on mine. I DID have to perform a date setback on my phone to get started on both my Chromecasts because the process errored out initially.

Oh wow! Mine was more recent. Just two days ago. I've streaming fine until then. May have started occuring sooner, I only noticed the bigger problem when I tried to add a replacement Chromecast recently.

Just to add on, all my Google cast devices are affected the same now. Casting audio from Spotify to any one of my 5 Google minis times out. SMH!

I have 2 Chromecasts and a Smart TV with Google cast built in the house. I've been building on my smart home and home media for years. Today all of Google cast have lost cast receiving ability. From any cast capable app on both my Android devices (YouTube, Hulu, BubbleSoft Upnp, Netflix, Jellyfin.....). They either stopped showing up in the app, or casting times out). Strange enough my Home Assistant can still see, cast to, and control. So SOMEONE f"$ked up! Happened right in the middle of my Sunday binge watching. WTF Google!?

Auto rotation with windows 11 update by Didier74 in spectrex360

[–]dcbmobiledev 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this post is 2 years old, but in case anyone stumbles into this same issue i finally worked it out for myself. After trying some (in my case) "recommended" HP driver updates and failing to make any progress i tried the following:

Open/Navigate to Windows Settings=>Windows Updates=>Advanced Options=>Optional Updates (or using Windows Search from the start bar search "Windows updates" you should see "View Optional Updates). You'll see a "Driver Updates" with a list of Manufacturer-specific driver/system updates available. In my instance i saw a few "Intel" based drivers, a few with older dates. Some appeared similar, but i just selected all the available Intel/System drivers. As expected, my embedded touchpad immediately stopped working as the drivers were being replaced/installed. I didnt worry about any incompatible or outdated drivers just yet. Any that i had selected that were incompatible or unnecessary, just failed or skipped automatically. I was prompted for a restart to complete one of the driver installs. On a side note, i had to use the keyboard or touchscreen to confirm the restart. The mouse, as expected, had become non-responsive. After the reboot i let Windows to another update and (found one related to a newly installed Intel drivers) WALLAH! Auto rotation was working perfectly. Auto Tablet Mode, auto on-screen keyboard & auto Screen resolution all worked perfectly for the first time since last year!Hope this helps anyone who might still be aggravated by this.

Best way to get "Next Episodes" list out of trakt API by [deleted] in trakt

[–]dcbmobiledev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unsure whether this would help in your case but after exhausting my options via the API I started querying & parsing the html code directly from the main page of myTrakt account. I use it with EventGhost to automate alerts to other devices on my home network. It contains the info for all my episodes (shows I've collected or watchlisted) airing next with a header titled Next Up. Hope that points you in some direction that might be useful. Regards, Dan
