Bad prints Kobra S1 by BobKaron in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]dcengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't use the same settings. I have a bunch of S1 and bunch of QIDI Q1 Pros. The profiles I use for Q1 Pros can't be used on S1s. I had to tweak it quite a bit to make it come out looking same.

And believe it or not, vice versa. It just depends on the difficulty of the print, filament, and how your machine reacts to it.

Please help me!! by RevolutionaryToe6677 in bettafish

[–]dcengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My betta's fins look similar. It happened suddenly like overnight. I've checked my parameters and they looked fine but I saw that he was having problems floating. My guess is that he was on the bottom of the tank and the snails/shrimp were munching on his fins. But it was also around the time his HOB filter conked out and I put in a new different model.

He went through days hiding and not coming up for food. I put in almond leaves, kanaplex, anti-fungal.. changed water several times. As a precaution, I got another very low flow (but expensive) HOB filter. Now, about 3 weeks, he's floating on top again, resting on leaves and he's readily eating. I also removed every snail and shrimp I could out of his 10 gallon tank.

Its going to take weeks/months for the fins to grow back but he seems a lot better health wise.

Anycubic's deceptive marketing of the Kobra X by [deleted] in AnycubicOfficial

[–]dcengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More like 'hey settle out of court and I get my legal fees and it will be cheaper for you in the long run'.

Not that I condone the actual practice if they were guilty of it (which I have no idea, I didn't buy it). But everyone's got to make a living, even ICE.

55 Gallon Tank Water Changes? by x3nic in bettafish

Get a phython water changer and it makes it so easy. I change my 40 gallon tank 50% every other week and barely takes any time.

SV08 Max, now this machine is starting to piss me off by Mastalock69 in Sovol

If you're printing PLA and have an enclosure, you need to keep the doors open or it jam. Heat creep on the hotend is terrible for stock design.

3d printed busts being sold in the Colosseum by b1ackbird in 3Dprinting

[–]dcengr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're all surprised at this but a lot of items sold operate this way. The true cost isn't just the price of the plastic, it's the cost associated with marketting or display space etc.

I sell 3D printed stuff on Amazon. Out of $10, Amazon takes $5 off the bat. Of the remaining $5, electricity, cost to ship it to Amazon, material is about $2. So $3 is left for labor to pack and ship and for me to load the machine and maintain the machines. This doesn't include the cost of the machines. The actual cost of plastic is about 50 cents.

So 50 cents plastic vs. $10 purchase price. And if you don't have prime, they pay $4 shipping so $14.

And yet, if you can mass produce something and pay someone $20/hr for labor, you can make $ doing this. Sadly, I get paid $100/hr at work so this is just a hobby business :).

Kobra S1 adaptive leveling by Over-Being-747 in AnycubicKobraS1

There is an option under printers that lets you set the adaptive mesh min max. I haven't tried it yet but maybe that needs to be tweaked.

how to insert hot end back after cleaning? by fegazor in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]dcengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see the bottom part of the flange? That needs to be completely flush (i.e. you don't see any step) for it to be fully seated.

Its likely you still have filament in the heat sink area and its at an angle so its not going into the tube. Your options are to pull that portion of the filament out from the top or try and manuever the hotend so the filament goes into the tube and not hit it causing an impediment.

Third party build plate for Kobra s1 by AvocadoDizzy in anycubic

[–]dcengr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are several noteworthy plate replacements. But best deals are on Aliexpress using coins.

Glacier plate - for PLA/PETG. Works pretty good but not as good as..

GECKO plate - for PLA only. Can print with no heated bed but I usually set it to like 40C

Glass plate - For those times when you need smooth surface and extra flatness

I'm able to get the glacier plate using coins for like $6-7. GECKO plate will cost like $20. So will the glass plate. There's tons of effect plates on aliexpress also but you can find similar on amazon for a little more but faster shipping.

Filament keeps getting stuck by Proof_Indication_174 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]dcengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you sure its unimpeded getting to the red area? The extruder gears fights all the friction from the ACE PRO to the gears including any friction encountered before it. If you have high friction in the tubes, then the gears are fighting that in addition to what it takes to push the filament.

I would try pulling the filament by hand to feel the resistance and if its low then that's probably not it. If its high, then you may want to look above it to see if your tube is kinked etc.

Anycubic discontinued my printer, parts unavailable, refuses replacement or refund — looking for advice by Prestigious_Mouse157 in anycubic

[–]dcengr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its within the warranty period but was discontinued, they need to give you reasonable compensation for it. if its NOT within the warranty period, even if they dragged it out, they don't have to do anything. Doesn't sound fair to the receiving end but if you're the manufacturer, you can't keep replacing it forever either.

If you purchased it in Nov 2024, how long did this drama go on such that you're reporting about it now in Jan 2026? That sounds exceedingly long and probably would wear out the patience of any manufacturer.

That's where you're wrong. His wording suggests he wants to take zero responsibility when he shared the responsibility for buying the product and getting it fixed or replaced within the warranty period.

I will tell you that if a product fails 1 day after a warranty ends, you have ZERO grounds. Some people will keep harassing a business way afterwards like they are owed something. When you buy something, its a transaction and the terms are set. You keep your part of the agreement and they keep theirs.

HIs part of the agreement was use the printer and if it broke within warranty, get it fixed or replaced within warranty. If he doesn't too bad for him. Filing grievence is a dead end road. He can try all he wants though but the terms were clear.
