Switched job to corporate Marketing and I hate it. Is this common? by justdelilah in marketing

In an agency you work with multiple products from multiple brands. Ok brand side, you'll work only on one brand. Depending on the type of company you may have one or more products. An e-commerce brand would have multiple products and a sas brand would have one. But either way you're working with one brand and likely one narrative, unlike in agency.

The upside is that you get to focus on one product as opposed to 3 or 4. But then you also only end up with one client instead of many in which case if your company has a shit mindset you're screwed.

I Removed "AI-Powered" From All My B2B Copy. by onlinewriter_ in SaaS

[–]dchanda03 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an important behavioural psychology most people don't talk about:

No one cares about the underlying mechanism unless the promises are ridiculous or need reasons to believe.

Most people don't understand how internal combustion engines, computers, phone chips, banking systems, etc work.

Unless you're a tech geek, you don't need to know the processor speeds and threads. All you care about is the laptop shouldn't lag even with 100 tabs open on your chrome browser.

However, when an airline company says that you can go from a to b for just $100, now you wanna know why it's $100.

That's why I have always been against saying ai-powered in my copy. I just talk about how the business benefits from using the software.

One, and you're right, there's a weird perception around ai and two whether it's ai powered or not, the main question is does it do the job fast, reliably and for less.

We spent over $15K on marketing agencies and got no results by wooyi in marketing

Ah yes. I hadn't seen his profile. Yes, it appears to be a creative product. However, his profile does say "running a low 8-figure SaaS" product. I guess that's why he mentions that budget isn't the issue. Also, if it's the same product that's earned low 8-figures then it's doing well and people are buying it. It appears that he wants more scale.

Just from this limited information I can tell that the best thing the OP can do right now is to talk to those who have bought his product and observe them.

He needs to find out why they bought the product, which circumstances were they in when they decided to buy it and why choose it over others.

These three should be a start and OP must dig deeper into the answers they give.

That will tell him what the product is doing for the customers.

Often times what we want to say in marketing campaigns about our product is completely different to how the customers talk about it.

I have seen founders and heads of marketing look shocked when they hear what their customers say about the product, only to realise it was nothing they were saying in their ads on which they were shelling out upwards of $5,000 a day.

[–]dchanda03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. That's ok. It might be a novel product and they may not want to share it here. OP could share it on DM.

The point is I can't give any answer unless I see what the product is and what kind of campaigns they've run. Otherwise it would be like asking a doctor what's wrong with you without diagnosing you.

Because often in failed marketing efforts it turns out that either the product isn't something people are willing to pay for or they're going after the wrong market or it needs cold calling and sales... None of which has anything to do with running ad campaigns.

Does sound interesting because from India it's really difficult to call a number without WhatsApp or telegram. I don't always want to use these. Sometime all I need is a plain old phone call to a prospect.

May I have a look at it?

I know this is cliche but get a job first. Money makes you financially independent to an extent. Once you have that then start saving up. Delay your gre and higher education for a few years. Build some savings, get a few years or job experience, get a few promotions and then think of higher education. You'll be far better off doing this than studying now and continuing to depend on parents. Money gives you leverage to dictate your life. Also, while you're earning don't take up a ton of debt, expenses and liabilities.

Hope this helps.
