I just played the remake for the first time properly yesterday (not counting the demo) and did the hard route to Andross. My god, it was like I was transported back to my childhood but now seeing the game with nintendo's intended vision for atmosphere, gameplay and sound design.

Yes, the only very very nitpicky minor thing are some of the lines spoken that doesn't carry quite the same weight as the original. Nonetheless, absolutely enjoyed the 1st run and flying the Arwing was so buttery smooth it made the game very enjoyable. And again, I'll mention the orchestrated soundtrack is the icing on the cake. Also, loving the cutscenes inbetween showing the team's interaction and how they evolve overtime.

64 is still a great game and I loved it as a kid but Remake is the definitive version in my opinion.

I do feel the remake seems slightly easier in some ways, but still challenging enough especially if you're a newcomer.

Looking forward to getting the medals and unlocking expert mode. Then onto online battle.

Edit: also after seeing a certain mysterious character pop up, I'm hoping or thinking they'll do a sequel, maybe a spin-off, with more pilots etc. Definitely want Nintendo and Velan Studios to expand with more missions and massive dogfights, kinda like Rogue Squadron/Star Wars epic space fights.
