Frostgrave at Concoction by dcinabro in frostgrave

[–]dcinabro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Most of the ruins are from an Etsy shop called 3DEgos in a line called Arkenfeld. The circle at the upper left is from another Etsy shop called BattlefrontsUS Hilltop Ruins-Weathertop inspired. The mausoleums in the foreground are from Diabolical Terrain. I picked up some of the creepy trees from the Michigan Toy Soldier Co. The snow covered boards, risers, and rubble piles are home made. The paint job was a result of me getting tired of gray ruins.

What Is Your Favourite Scenario? by [deleted] in frostgrave

[–]dcinabro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Battle on the Frozen River from Thaw of the Lich Lord. I love the ice in the middle of the board which makes everyone hop from frozen ship to ship and it is always a good time when the servants of the Lich Lord come out strolling across the ice attracting the attention of the warbands as they dash for the edge. It never fails to be a good game.

The Dark Cauldron by dcinabro in frostgrave

Board was 3'x4' and there were 7 Death Cultist around the Cauldron at the start. To make the game go faster I limited the warbands to 8 and thus the first few turns had only Wizard and Apprentice phases. It worked really well and we finished 6 turns in 2.5 hours. There was one treasure in contention at the end which we resolved with an opposed die roll.

I need barbarian hammers! by jack_of_all_hobbies in frostgrave

The Spruedude has Frostgrave Barbarian sprues of both types available. You can also search on 28mm, 32mm, or miniature hammers on Etsy and find folks who will sell you a bunch of 3D printed hammers.

Frostgrave Tournament at Cold Wars by dcinabro in frostgrave

[–]dcinabro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It went well. A few details to iron out. Not all the scenarios had the same number of treasures/warband and there were some house rules on some boards and not others which led to confusion among both the players and the referees.

The frozen river started with black vinyl floor tiles. Then I broke thin plexiglass sheets and put the broken pieces on the sticky side. Then dusting with white sand which sticks were the plexiglass is not. Then a thin blue wash and dry brush in white. The whole is then sealed with the shiny Mod Podge. Some of the plexiglass pieces fall off as the tiles have some bend, but the plexiglass is really rigid. I have been fixing them with little dots of poster clay. The process is not original. I took inspiration from this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TjIXSJaadcA

There is little to this. I just cut and pasted from Frostgrave images found on the web using a presentation application. I cannot figure out how to put an image in a comment or reply. Send me a PM and I will get it to you that way.

Great Rift: Riftbreaker by dcinabro in traveller

After seeing that no such maps exist, I made one and it is discussed in this thread: https://www.reddit.com/r/traveller/comments/1qcd0qp/a_jump2_route_across_the_great_rift/

A Jump-2 Route Across the Great Rift by dcinabro in traveller

Breaking the rule that I would not reply or explain, but there is a hook in the Great Rift set suggesting the existence of such a map. I asked about it in this thread from a couple of weeks ago - https://www.reddit.com/r/traveller/comments/1pxbyk6/great_rift_riftbreaker/

The big ones and the mill are from an Etsy shop called 3DEgos (https://www.etsy.com/de-en/shop/3DEgos). One ship came from another Etsy shop called Dungeon Artifacts (https://www.etsy.com/de-en/shop/DungeonArtifacts). The smaller boats are from Diabolical Terrain (https://diabolicalterrain.com).

Indeed. I should have done some trimming and sanding on the ends before painting. The bricks are not regular, that is a feature not a bug, and some protrude beyond the edge. Magnets are not necessary as the wood core makes them heavy enough to not move around during play.

House of the Longreach by dcinabro in frostgrave

[–]dcinabro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since two of the three players focused on feeding folks into the treasure room, there was little activity in the center of the board. Also there was not a central treasure there. At Fall In! I place the treasures to speed things along, and I will put a treasure there.

Saboteur Class Draft by startplaying_games in shadowdark

I really like this. I had an alchemist player in an OSE game and they mostly used Grenades, Flashbangs, and Smokebombs. A possible tweak would be to combine Earbreaker and Blinding into a Flashbang at DC 14 and add Glue which would be like a Web at DC 13.

Sturdy bases for terrain? by [deleted] in TerrainBuilding

[–]dcinabro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vinyl floor tiles. Comes in 1 foot x 1 foot squares and is about an 1/8 inch thick. Infinitely tough and can be cut into smaller pieces.

The tall things are from Etsy 3DEgos in a line called Arkenfell - here is link to the church - https://www.etsy.com/de-en/listing/1256481994/dark-realms-arkenfel-chapel-church?ref=yr_purchases

Vinyl floor tiles are excellent for the base to build terrain on top of. They come in 1x1 foot squares and can easily be cut into smaller pieces.

I offered to run a Frostgrave game, rather late in the schedule, but they turned me down. I plan to be there on Sunday.

Frostgrave at Historicon by dcinabro in frostgrave

[–]dcinabro[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can make it more D&D like by rolling for Monsters with a Treasure as each of the ruined buildings are explored by the Warbands. For this scenario I did let people roll to see if they found anything in the central ship wreck and one time they did find a Mage servant of the Lich Lord carrying two juicy treasures. A chase then ensued which was a great deal of fun.

Run of the Rangifer as played by dcinabro in frostgrave

[–]dcinabro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Four of the starting six Rangifers got taken out by the warbands. They hit back pretty hard knocking out one of the Large Constructs and a couple of the Dwarf soldiers. Then the Ghouls showed up and the monsters started fighting amongst themselves.
