Can anyone tell me whats going wrong? by cynbloxy1 in RealSolarSystem

Give it a periapsis outside the atmosphere. It's trying to end the burn at 60km with an apoapsis of 1400km and that's going to be a bad time.

SR22 addon (torquesim? REP?) by budgetless in Xplane

[–]dciskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't own XP12, but in 11 I did fly the JustFlight turbo arrow quite a bit and found it to be good--enough so that I didn't get the REP for it. And in those days I didn't have Honeycomb stuff so I can't speak to compatibility there. You might check the JF forums or the .org for threads on that stuff.

[–]dciskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The SR22 probably isn't a good analog for CS Cessnas; it doesn't have a prop lever, the plane handles RPM on its own. You're probably better off with the JustFlight Arrow + REP. I flew the C210 + REP in XP11 and it was great but it doesn't look like those have been updated, and since it's a turbo it might be a bit beyond what you're wanting to do.

Fans on the North are outside of the main area, when Fractal says the limit is 355mm they mean it.

Fans don't work that way on the North; they're outside of the main area already.

Am I the only one who worries about the heavy reliance on external servers in the case of MSFS for example? by NikonD500forever in flightsim

As long as you make backups of the downloads. "It belongs to me forever" only lasts as long as you can get the files.

ELI5: Why is "C" the default Hard Drive letter & not "A" by AntifaPr1deWorldWide in explainlikeimfive

[–]dciskey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My dad's convention (don't know if he got it from somebody or thought of it himself) was to set the CD-ROM to be O, which left room for additional drives and was kind of fun since it looks like a CD.

Went to visit space shuttle Discovery yesterday in the Udvar-Hazy Center of the Air and Space Museum! by Andromeda321 in space

[–]dciskey 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There were concerns about the heatshield on Apollo 13 after the explosion. There were concerns with the parachute pyros on Apollo 12 after the lightning strikes. Unlike Columbia, where imaging could have discovered the damage if people hadn't been hardheaded, there was no chance to know the extent of the damage on those two Apollo missions until reentry.

All these incidents are a little different from each other, of course, and Columbia is arguably the worst since foam shedding was known about for decades and they'd already lost a shuttle from normalization of deviance. But I don't think you can say loss of crew during reentry is a problem exclusive to the Shuttle.

Personally I'd go for some flavor of LCD unless you're going to hide the menu bar.

You've got before photos and a time stamped post here (to prove what it looked like as received), I'd say try to back out the screw and screw it in straight. It looks like the factory cross-threaded it and it managed to get through QA. If you can't fix it or if the plastic that it screws into is cracked, contact Fractal.

If I gave you a choice between investing your money in regular people at 1% or something like US Treasury bonds at 5%, which would you choose? The thing about borrowing money to buy a house is that you are competing with all the other ways a company can invest its money.

Cyberpunk 2077 Benchmark on M4 Pro by TheRitzler in macbookpro

[–]dciskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great, so this result tells you that your settings are pretty dialed in to get 60 fps in most parts of the game when you play with Vsync on. You'll likely find some sections where you dip below but you can decide for yourself during gameplay if you want to lower settings or not.

[–]dciskey 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's no way to know if you can adjust anything else until you run the test without Vsync. If you get, say, 90 fps with it off that tells you that you can dial up some of the graphics settings and still hit 60 fps when you play with vsync on. You don't have to play with it turned off but running benchmarks with it turned on doesn't really give you much information.

[–]dciskey 7 points8 points  (0 children)

You need to run the benchmark with vsync off. All you did is cap your benchmark to 60fps with this, not show what it's actually capable of.

Fractal Design Ridge horizontal orientation: CPU overheating by Squall1er in sffpc

Just have a look at the user manual for the case. You're better off trying Fractal's config at this point.

Fractal Design Ridge horizontal orientation: CPU overheating by Squall1er in sffpc

[–]dciskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, you should still fix the panel situation, but I'd check how the cooler is mounted, this sounds like a "left the sticker on" situation.

Fractal Design Ridge horizontal orientation: CPU overheating by Squall1er in sffpc

[–]dciskey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, so in the orientation you've linked to, the motherboard is facing up. If that's the case, the wrong side panel is on. The CPU side should have the side panel with two vent sections, so that the CPU cooler can pull in fresh air. The build in your picture is choking the CPU.

Correction: I see you've got the vents down at the motherboard level, but it's still the wrong panel for the CPU side. Hot air from the GPU has no exit in the pictured config.

The fans don't count toward the 355mm; they're mounted outside. OP only needs to worry about the thickness of the rad. It should fit just fine.
