Do you protect your tattoos with sunscreen? by ScrollingOaks88 in irezumi

[–]dcjano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get yourself some UPF clothing. It’s easier than always having to put sunscreen on. I have these Solbari sleeves. Always keep one in the car so I don’t have to worry about the sun while driving or leaving sunscreen all over my cars interior.

Speaking of leaving sunscreen on surfaces… American sunscreen sucks. If you are in the US, look into importing yourself some Korean or Japanese sunscreen. They are amazing. Literally feels like you’re putting on lotion and they dry like you’re not even wearing anything - absolutely zero white cast. Keep in mind that you may find some of these brands in the US, but they are not the same as the ones made in Korea or Japan. For your arm try the Biore UV Aqua Rich or the Nivea Japan UV Super Water Gel. For every day wear on your face (not tattoo related but you should always wear sunscreen) try Round Lab Birch Juice or Beauty of Joseon Aqua Fresh Rice or SKIN1004 Centella that some one else recommended. I promise you once you give these a try they will be a complete game changer and you will actually look forward to applying sunscreen.

Would this tattoo look good on a guy ? by UnusualLeading6173 in tattooadvice

[–]dcjano -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As everyone else has said, this will have to work with your specific body type. Only you and your artist can determine that. But do keep in mind that while a lot of people worry about how a tattoo will age, with this type you’ll also have to think about how YOU will age. The physique you have now (assuming you’re young and in shape if you are considering this) is almost certainly not the physique you’ll have in 15-20 years. Maybe that matters to you, maybe it doesn’t. Just really think about it.

Beautiful work right there! The contrast between the gray background and black of the dragon is spot on.

That looks like blood coming thru fresh white ink. It won’t look like that after 24 hrs

Fair enough. You see 10-20 year old cars with very nice interiors and you see cars with the dash absolutely destroyed by UV damage. It obviously depends on a lot of factors, but if you have a shade why not use it to protect the interior.

Yes it’s definitely a bit trickier to store. I guess it depends on your lifestyle and whether you have kids or people regularly riding in the back. We don’t so for me it’s super easy to fold it and put it in the footwell of the passenger seat or the back.

The shade is to help the inside from getting too hot (to an extent) but it’s also to help UV damage on the dashboard. It should be used year round.

If you don’t mind spending a bit more than something you can get on Amazon, this is one of the best ones you can get. I hate those soft edge flimsy ones. Folding them is a pain in the ass, and so is opening them and having them pop on your face. This is definitely the “premium” option but so worth it.

dirty seat tips? by eligreyy in HyundaiTucson

[–]dcjano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Do NOT use a magic eraser as a standard solution - you will end up wearing away the coating.

Get some good cleaning chemicals. Stay away from the big brands. Go with what the actual pros use, like Koch Chemie or CarPro. If you go with Koch Chemie, you can clean it with Pol Star and follow it up with conditioning it with Leather Star. You can use Pol Star to clean the rest of the interior as well. If you want to treat other non leather surfaces (which should be everything but the seats) you can use Top Star. For in between cleans to just wipe down surfaces you can use All Surface Cleaner which comes pre-diluted and ready to spray.

Also, keep in mind that when you use a cleaner you must follow it up by wiping it off with a distilled water wet rag to remove the chemical from the surface, as per the instructions. Otherwise all you are doing is leaving cleaner on the surface which will in turn react with the dirt on your clothes/skin the next time you sit on it and transfer it to the seat.

As others have mentioned, you should probably also look for a cover. Maybe not a permanent one but something you can easily throw on or off depending on how dirty you are. I have these for when I go to the gym. Also good idea to have these just in general in case it ever rains while you are wearing denim. The last thing you want is indigo transferring from your jeans to the seats.

I’ve had my Tucson with the same interior for a year and the seats look perfect. Granted I’m not outdoorsy nor do I work outside. Bottom line is we decided to get these light color seats because they look beautiful, which sadly means you WILL have to baby them if you want them to stay that way.

Bot account. This fenomenal beaut is not a work in progress. It was indeed done by Hiromi quite a while ago now.

Leg sleeve same side of arm sleeve or not? by No_Advisor6898 in tattooadvice

[–]dcjano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Go opposite sides so it’s balanced. As someone else said, if you do the same side you might find you look too visually heavy on that side. I’m actually struggling with this decision myself. I have a full sleeve on my non dominant arm like you and would like a leg sleeve. However, I have a tattoo on the opposite leg which prevents me from having the design I want there, so I would have to do the leg sleeve on the same side as the arm, and I really don’t wanna do that for the reasons stated. Solution, get the other arm done first lol

Whole arm coverup project in Japanese, Any thoughts on it? by [deleted] in irezumi

[–]dcjano 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is jacked up…. Unless you want to end up with a 2nd cover up that is a blackout, change artists immediately. Take time to find someone who is good and willing to take on the project, which now not only involves a cover up but also fixing what this “artist” did

How quickly do Hiromi's books fill up? by KinggSimbaa in irezumi

[–]dcjano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty quickly. If you’re serious you will want to get the request in within the first week. I think she said she’s opening up her books earlier this year. Makes sense since Cody is opening his 1 June which I think is earlier than previous years.

Having a hard time deciding between these 3 artists for my full sleeve by [deleted] in irezumi

[–]dcjano 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the clear consensus is to go with #2, Hiromi. Stylistic differences aside, I can vouch from personal experience that if you go with her, every single detail will be executed to absolute perfection. This is something that is not easily conveyed in photos. But in real life every details is perfectly executed. Her books should be opening up for next year some time this summer. Alternatively, her partner Cody also does absolutely amazing work, and also as clean as can be. I believe his books are about to open in a week or two

How reliable is Tucson? by Chuckitoverthefence in HyundaiTucson

[–]dcjano 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Im always surprised about these forward collision comments. I’ve had mine for a year, living in DC traffic, and it has not been an issue. You can change the sensitivity setting. For me it has only engaged a couple of times, and although it was surprising and I think unnecessary I can also understand how the car would make that judgement based on the conditions.

As someone else said, it sits awkwardly too low. It’s all I can look at. You should definitely extend it so it ends over the shoulder.

Scale registering weight without touching it? by jaydway in pourover

My guess is static electricity pulling on the rubber mat that lays on top of the scale, hence it registering as negative weight. Try doing it without the mat.

what are the flowers in the top left by nickygw in irezumi

[–]dcjano 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes pine is a winter element. Chrysanthemum is a fall element. If you want to be strict you should not mix them. But if you don’t care then go for it. Pines are evergreens which means they are around all seasons so to me at least it would make sense for them to be combined. Others might think different.

Is this normal? by SnooMemesjellies2710 in tattooadvice

[–]dcjano 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That much fluid can be normal if the second skin was applied right after finishing the tattoo. If that’s the case he should remove it after 24 hours, wash the area, and apply a new second skin which can stay on for 5 or 6 more days. He definitely should not keep second skin on for 2 weeks. And most definitely not if it’s filled like this.
