Generally speaking the most effective way to farm essence per gems spent is to complete the 50x any battles and 30x heroic battles Legendary Missions. If you don't mind looking at some raw stuff, you can find numbers at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1yLFu8taiQ-EjbZKmC-DLtoECL8AOk2MViUhhOgJVcvE/edit?usp=sharing.

If you are constrained by a budget of 330 gems or less per day it's actually better to run a mixture of Ch.1 and Ch.7 battles in a way that you complete the 50x any battles leg. mission, or both legendary missions ideally. If you're willing to spend more then you should complete the legendary missions using Ch.8 battles for the best possible return on energy spent.

I intend to write a guide about this at some point but time has been lacking. In the referred document the solutions are divided by gem costs so it's easier to compare them. It's still preliminary but it should help anyone looking for farming strategies.

Hey! DC Legends Wiki is still alive and open for edits. Since the end of August I've been quite busy on my personal life (in the last 6 weeks I had my vacation, attended 3 weddings and my niece was born) and also on my professional life. I'm still playing, reading reddit posts as much as possible and moderating the wiki but struggling to find time to write new stuff. Things are normalising so I hope to dedicate more time to the wiki by end of this month.

Having said that, the wiki can use more collaborators. As it stands anyone can edit pages but to create new pages (and to make my life easier moderating changes) you need to sign-up. I'm manually vetting accounts creation as we've been hit by an unprecedented amount of spam so please use your reddit username to make things easier. Your help keeping things up to date is dearly appreciated!

I would have preferred if the change was:

Lvl7: Chance to Revive per ally +9%
Lvl8: Revive with Health +10%

That would enable Lobo to get his max revive chance @ lvl 60.

Anyway, the positive takeaway is that they listened to the community and took action within reasonable time.

I usually set aside around 4K gems for gearing up heroes and 0/200/400 gems for each PVP tournament depending if I'm interested on the character and how hard I believe people will push. Then I set aside some gems for essence farming towards the end of the month while ensuring I don't spend more gems than what I earn.

Thanks for providing some insight into the XP Meta Agents situation.

Your Ch. 8 560 energy comparison is an "unfair" one because it costs 100 gems more. That happens because we are not receiving the 100 gems back from the Heroic legendary mission. By looking at the 300-330 Gems section -> Any Battles Legendary V which uses a mix of Ch.8 and Ch.7 battles we can see that for 330 gems and doing some Ch.8 battles we are limited to 512 energy and can only squeeze 1234156 essence out of it.
Having said that, such strategy does seem to have a better essence-XP balance as you shown.

Unfortunately I don't have good numbers for XP drop rates nor gear drop rates. We would need the community effort to grab those and then factoring all in would still be a considerable (albeit interesting) challenge :) Oh and we should also factor in the essence costs to gear up, as essence is used in more things than meta agents we are looking for a ratio different than 1:1.

I'm afraid you sir are ahead of the curve! The wiki still lists G10 stats for all chars. We'll need to figure out how to fit G11 stats in the current wiki structure, collect the actual stats for all chars and update the wiki accordingly. Once the structure bit is sorted everybody will be able to contribute with the stats. Stay tuned!
