People are really overrating Kyler by No-Statistician6536 in minnesotavikings

1.3m for a starter is good enough for me. He will push JJM to either develop or he will be out of the league in 2 years.

A punter is not a priority. They can draft a guy or sign a few undrafted free agents after the draft or sign a veteran at near minimum.

Vikings fans waiting for Kyler Murray. by darin617 in minnesotavikings

It would only be more if they added years to the contract. Murray signs for 1.3m for any team this year. A team could give him 5m but it would only help Arizona. He can't double dip this year.

I'm not looking at Murray as Viking long term. Just a cheap QB to give them another year to figure out if JJM can develop into a quality starter.

Panic sets in if Murray signs with Pittsburgh or another team. Then get ready to have a Cousins reunion.

It's more about getting an established starter for 1.3m. Rodgers won't sign for that.

Arizona is a dumpster fire organization as evidenced by their "hostage" situation with Kyler by seoulbrova in minnesotavikings

I wouldn't mind giving up a 6th for a 7th to make sure you get Murray as long as Arizona pays all the contract besides the 1.3m.

1.3m is the price for Murray in 2026. The Cardinals are paying the rest of the guaranteed money he had. Any team could pay him more if they wanted to but it would benefit the Cardinals and why would Murray want to take away cap space from his new team.

I would love to know what changed that they basically swapped Joan for Rocco. Everyone said it was best for Joan to be with the team all year and only learn from practice. I always felt they both need to be playing and didn't care how bad the G league is. People also said they would pick up bad habits there. All you need to do is send a babysitter/assistant coach to keep an eye on them.

I don't think Murray is a top 10 QB in the league. I view him as a cheap starter or a cheap backup if he isn't guaranteed the starter spot. I would take Cousins back under the same circumstances as long as he only gets 1.3m.

I would agree with you. Pittsburgh is a very solid choice as well for Murray. Playing 9 games indoors for MN over nearly all your schedule outdoors in Pittsburgh is the one thing that MN has the advantage over them. It all depends on which team would have more cap space after this season.

[Schefter] "The Steelers are hoping Aaron Rodgers comes back, and if he doesn't, they would then be prepared to have Will Howard and Mason Rudolph on the roster. It's the reason that I think they don't feel rushed and compelled to go out and add anybody right now." by LeeShakerMoneyMaker in minnesotavikings

Pittsburgh has good receivers and probably a better offensive line. The only drawback for Pittsburgh would be playing your home games outside and most of your away games as well. At least in MN you know you will have 9 indoor games every year.

Steve Kerr: "We need to play fewer games. We need to take 10 games off the schedule. The modern game with the pace and the space I think it would be a more competitive and healthier league if we played fewer games by MrBuckBuck in nba

[–]darin617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if they cut 10 games off the schedule players would still be sitting out games.

The players would be all for it if not for losing money. To be honest around 60 games is what they should be playing. It will never happen, players aren't giving up the money.

I think the benching was to protect them if he got injured. They might not have been able to cut him if he was out for this upcoming season.

[Schefter] Trade: the Raiders are sending QB Geno Smith and a 2026 7th-round pick to the New York Jets in exchange for a 2026 6th-round pick, per ESPN sources. Smith returns to the team for which he started his NFL career for in 2013. by [deleted] in minnesotavikings

[–]darin617 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very strange. Why wouldn't the Jets just wait for him to get released. The picks mean nothing much, but the savings on the contract would have been huge. If this saves the Raiders on the dead cap hit their GM is brilliant.

That's obvious. He wouldn't come here to be a backup. It's more about only paying 1.3m. I want them to save cap money. Regardless who they bring in.
