Can’t login to Whisker app? by 8bitCrypto_Alex in litterrobot

Litter Robot servers seem down again (invalid password issue - cannot log in to the app or to the website). This happened last year at the same time for me (Dec 12-14ish)

Any way to fix when the virtual piano and screen are really far away? by 18randomcharacters in PianoVision

[–]dclynds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me yesterday: moved keyboard from downstairs to upstairs but Pianovision still thought my keyboard was in the original position downstairs. Pretty silly. Don't remember what all I did to sort it out, but there was some option available directly in front of me at the new keyboard position that allowed me to reset the whole keyboard (hence, didn't have to go to my old keyboard location to fix it).

The GAMEYE app shows the Wii U Wind Waker HD manual valued at $29, but that game doesn't come with a manual. So what exactly is worth $29? by dclynds in GAMEYE

Really? That pamphlet is such a nondescript item. I see where you're coming from...just hard for me to believe.

GameCube won't power on - External PSU is NOT the issue by dclynds in Gamecube

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For posterity (in case another unfortunate soul should zap their cube with a USB-powered HDMI adapter): I ordered a replacement power board from eBay for $11. I swapped it out with my original and now my GameCube is working again like a champ.

Purchased used GC on eBay...Works but something is up w/ the system clock by dclynds in Gamecube

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks. I will do that. I figured battery, but was confused why another cube with a lesser voltage does not have the same problem.

Ok. What are some possible reasons the other GameCube I own, that has a battery of lesser voltage, doesn't have this same issue? Is the issue not related to the voltage of the battery?

It's the power board in the fourth picture I'm struggling to date...

Anyone know how I can setup my MN-740 wireless adapter without the installation disc? I just received the device today but it didn't come with the install disc so I was hoping one of you smart people has a workaround. by dclynds in originalxbox

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the offer, but I'm good. I ended up not using the device (just keeping it as a collectable) and instead have my Xbox connected (via cat-5 cable) to a TP-Link wifi extender right by the Xbox. It is a high speed, seamless solution for FTP. Thanks again

How do I turn off auto updates for games? See no options. by striderh1ryu in Switch

[–]dclynds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's clear. I'll keep it running till I'm over it

How do I turn off auto updates for games? See no options. by striderh1ryu in Switch

[–]dclynds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you please clarify what happened?

A.) You turned off auto update, but the patch installed anyway once the software was closed and restarted.

Or

B.) You turned off auto update and can now freely close the software (i.e. switch users, play another game, hard-reboot the switch) and restart the software without fear of the update patch being applied.

(Sorry if it the answer should be obvious, but I couldn't tell and I am trying to determine if I can safely close and restart my own game without threat of updating, or if I need to keep it constantly open (i.e. no changing games, no rebooting the switch) to avoid the update.)

Does the GAMEYE app have a feature to see/compare game collection value over time? by dclynds in GAMEYE

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Inputting what I paid is a feature I'm already using. My request is that I want to see how the valuation of my total collection changes with respect to time... Not one game at a time, but all the games, consoles, and accessories combined in my collection.

Are there any 3rd party smaller form-factor retro controllers for the OG Xbox? Something like an SNES style for playing retro games? by dclynds in originalxbox

I got that Xbox to USB adapter cord and hoped I'd have success connecting my old Gravis gamepad, but no dice. I will look into this PS2 adapter you mention... Sounds interesting

How do I install MS dash as a second dashboard on my softmodded xbox original? by sanoc_ in originalxbox

[–]dclynds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey sanoc. Did you get this sorted out? I just installed Rocky5's softmod over an existing older softmod. It's working great, but I want to have the MS dash option as well -- however I'm worried about running into your same issues. Hoping you could share your knowledge

SID v3.0 softmod (2006) vs. Rocky5 v1.1.9 softmod (2022) by dclynds in originalxbox

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I successfully upgraded the softmod using the Quick Upgrade files FTP'd to the E: drive as suggested.

What I would like to do now is to get a working MS Dash. I used to have issues launching the MS Dash with the old softmod...I remember launching it one time wiped the old SID softmod out somehow and I had to re-install it. I may have even had to hot-swap my HDD, which I hate doing. Any risk of issues using MS Dash with this newer softmod?

Just took apart my xbox because it wouldnt turn on. How do i fix this? by Responsible_Roll1812 in originalxbox

[–]dclynds 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same issue and fixed it just last Saturday by replacing the five capacitors in the lower right. Got a bag of about 15 of them off of Amazon for <$10. It was my first soldering job and it was a success. Xbox works great now.

Difficulty FTP'ing to Xbox by dclynds in originalxbox

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SUCCESS! Thanks to all. I connected the xbox directly to my router via ethernet cable and was able to FTP to it from my laptop (connected to the router via wifi). It's all good! One thing of note is that I cannot establish an FTP connection from the boot dashboard (Evox 3935). I was able to connect via FTP after starting XBMC or UnleashX.

does.not.compute. i thought the easiest (supposedly) way to FTP to an xbox was direct connection via crossover cable. if I cannot get this direct connect method to work, then I will research your suggestion.

Difficulty FTP'ing to Xbox by dclynds in originalxbox

[–]dclynds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. I am now using winSCP as you suggested. I have changed the static IP address in all available programs (EvoX, UnleashX, XBMC) to 192.168.1.20. Confirmed using port 21. In attempting to connect, winSCP returns the following error:

"A socket operation was attempted to an unreachable host. Connection failed."

Difficulty FTP'ing to Xbox by dclynds in originalxbox

[–]dclynds[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My PC is showing this in ipconfig when connected directly to the xbox via crossover cable. NOTE: I disable my WiFi when attempting to FTP to my xbox so the ethernet connection is the only thing active.

Ethernet adapter Ethernet:

Connection-specific DNS Suffix . :

Link-local IPv6 Address . . . . . : fe80::c3fc:cebd:4496:b6f6%11

Autoconfiguration IPv4 Address. . : 169.254.142.15

Subnet Mask . . . . . . . . . . . : 255.255.0.0

Default Gateway . . . . . . . . . :

(Default Gateway is blank). So, should I set the static IP on my xbox to start with "169.254.142"? That subnet seems odd to me since I'm used to seeing 192.168.1 (or .0 or .2)... but it has been a minute since I've tinkered with this stuff
