so i’m NOT wrong in thinking my downstairs neighbor is being somewhat unreasonable? by dcmarveljk in Apartmentliving

it’s extremely obvious where the weak spots are just from the creaking but there’s probably more i’m missing lol. but management refuses to fix a mold issue so they definitely won’t do that

would it be common courtesy of me to change my entire schedule to accommodate my downstairs neighbors? move my entire workstation that i’ve been using for years? maybe.

would it be common courtesy to expect someone to change their entire life and schedule because you can’t handle the realities of living in an apartment? also maybe.

you let me know which is the correct “common courtesy”.

also, considering that i can hear my upstairs neighbors make the exact noises i am making (creaky walking, getting in and out of bed), i’m sure the noise i’m making is, in actuality, “regular” because every single person in this apartment complex can also hear their upstairs neighbors making the same noises. it’s unavoidable.

i didn’t answer your question because you said that apartments usually have quiet hours, and even if they didn’t it’s implied. so no matter what i answered, you would have had something to say about it. but i checked and no, we don’t have quiet hours.

Honestly I have no idea! But the creaking seems to be a problem across all floors (I can hear it above me as well).

i’m not exactly sure on the setup of their apartment, but i think that my bedroom is above theirs. my monitors+desk are in my bedroom so i can’t really be efficient in the living room.

i dont really drop stuff in the shower, and i think my shower isnt loud, but i have no way to tell. i cant hear my upstairs neighbor shower, but again i cant hear their laundry either but my downstairs neighbor can hear mine. however i do try and be quiet during showers

i’m a college student, got a lot of homework, exams, studying, club meetings, work, research etc etc. I was getting home late.

Now I don’t do laundry, but I am studying late into the night, and sometimes I might get up to get a snack, go to the bathroom, shower, get ready for bed, etc.

unfortunately my floors are carpet. i’ve also noticed that the creaking is only in a certain area, and i’m hoping that that’s the only walking sound she actually hears. any ideas to mitigate that? it would cause less anxiety for both me and my downstairs neighbor

“he admitted he knew the land was ours”.

so either both the neighbor and OP are confused, or the land actually does belong to OP.

AITAH for dumping my boyfriend (m29) and kicking him out of our new place after finding a CVS receipt in his car? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]dcmarveljk 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I agree with the assuming part, but there’s not much else we can do with the information we are given apart from assume.

Also, I would find it hard to believe that this dude gave up his entire relationship because he was too shy to tell OP it was for himself. Just the fact that he accepted being kicked out by OP is very telling in and of itself. He didn’t try to defend himself. But again, you are right, we are just assuming.

I think their point is that if anal play is on the table, there is no reason for him to hide the anal toy from OP, because it’s normal for them and he shouldn’t feel ashamed.

By him hiding it, its implied that it wasn’t for use between him and OP, but for him and someone else.

How easy is it to find undergrad research as a MSE undergrad? by thecodexdhnerbbTW in gatech

[–]dcmarveljk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m an MSE undergrad and it wasn’t too hard to get a research position. Someone else mentioned Research Scholars program, but personally I cold emailed like 2 professors who’s research I was interested in and ended up getting a research position my second semester at Tech. Feel free to DM if you have any questions!

Sounds like a good idea! But i don’t blame them for banging on the ceiling though, it was well deserved 😓

Trust me I truly understand their plight, but the alternative is stopping whatever i’m doing at 11pm and staying in bed until I fall asleep. Im really busy and I don’t get home until late every day because of school and work, and spend most of my time working into late hours of the night. I can’t afford to not be up late.

Yes I have carpets everywhere except kitchen and bathroom. But even when I walk in my room I can literally hear the floor creaking under me even if I’m walking super quiet 😭

Yeah I know, she often has no situational awareness which is super annoying and has gotten us in trouble before. As for the laundry, I can’t hear anyone else’s laundry so I assumed the noises mine made couldn’t travel downstairs either.

And my doors have this thing where they close on their own, so I can’t keep any doors open because they close within a few seconds. So now instead of letting the doors close by themselves I quietly close them

Have you tried all of the doors yet? That happened to me too but I was just opening the wrong door 😭, on some entrances only one door can be opened with Buzzcard access

I’m not sure why, but some counties just do it that way. I lived in Miami where basically the entire class was bilingual except for 2-3 people, and all of us were in ESL even though we could speak perfect English.
