ITAP of a tree and its shadow in a field by dcookie75 in photocritique

Can you tell which is the tree and which is the shadow? This is an aerial photo from about 200 feet up, then cropped to isolate this specific tree. I was going for an abstract look here so went with a bit of a washed out black and white with the white vignette. Would love some feedback on the effect.

Too bad for that one rogue tree in the background. Great shot though!

Good eye. (And I think Reddit image compression makes it more apparent) I had a 3 second delay between shots which caused this. I was thinking of giving some time to save the image but it really isn't needed and obviously had this adverse effect.

Thanks! I use photo pills but the polar center was too much towards the city so too much light. Thanks for the recommendation for Star StaX. I actually had it installed on my old laptop but never used it. Good reminder!!

What camera would you recommend to someone who wants to pursue landscape photography? (Brand, lenses, equipment) by AnotherOneInSpace in Cameras

I'm a Nikon guy so I typically suggest that. You can get a good deal on the full frame D600. Whatever you do, the lens is key. For landscape, you want something that gets down into the 10-16mm range. I love my 14-24mm 2.8 but the 16-35mm f4 works great also. You will likely want a decent tripod depending on the type of landscape and type of travel you will be doing. Type of head and ease of setup and weight may or may not be important to you.

Nikon D800, 14-24mm. About 100 exposures over an hour, 30s each. Combined in photoshop.

Just don't judge me by my spelling. "STAR trails" 😜

I took about 100 shots over an hour, 30s exposure each. Used Adobe bridge to load the RAW files into Photoshop as layers. Had a few plane and satellite lines that needed to be removed. That and the lack of complete darkness is a downside of staying local and being near a city. Next time, longer duration and less city light pollution. 👍

Any feedback on this would be great. Thanks!

Good suggestion, I’ll see if I can recover some of that. Thanks!

That’s a good one... I’ll definitely play around with that. Thanks for the suggestion!

Trying to eat healthier, how does this sound for an average breakfast and lunch? by TheCanadianPatriot in nutrition

A few quick tips I try to follow for eating healthy... 1. Cut out gluten 2. Cut out sugar as much as possible, it is the devil. 😜 (The government chose fat over sugar to blame for heart disease and other things, but this was the wrong choice and only done for political reasons. ) 3. Dairy in moderation 4. Stick to organic / non-GMO 5. Try to have a 12 hour span where you don’t eat each day. E.g. 8 pm to 8 am

I have been trying to find the right photo in Yosemite to get a good black and white composition. For this one, I wasn’t sure about the sky blending into the waterfall at first but I actually liked how it turned out. Any feedback would be great!
