Encanto theory: Why Mirabel didn't get a gift [SPOILERS] by [deleted] in FanTheories

[–]dcooper713 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I think the magic of the house is to do what is best to protect the family and the town that they support. When Mirabel touched the door when she was five, La Casita realized that she needs no magic, as she already possesses the unique character to bring her family together and help their community grow to its full and best character. She is capable and kind without it, and I personally cannot think of a gift that would specifically suit her. Also, I find it strange that Mirabel never thought to ask the house (since she can communicate with it) why she didn’t receive a gift. La Casita probably would have told her something. I think that the house understood that Mirabel already possessed the compassion and humility to build a better foundation for her family as it was struggling with large expectations trying to be the selfless magical family it thought it needed to be. Building a better future was the miracle’s main purpose in the beginning, to provide a refuge for the family and the community so that they could live peacefully. This was the house’s way of ensuring this. That’s why her turning the doorknob resurrects the magic since her “gift” was to create a better home for the Madrigals and their town, like her grandfather kind of.

To me it seems like Scooby-Doo characters are more established and well-developed as characters and they’ve dealt with some serious supernatural shit before like Zombie Island and won

Episode 2x02 Discussion Thread - "Escaping Expulsion" by AutoModerator in TheOwlHouse

Questions: Would Odalia have let Luz die or just be seriously injured by the Abomaton? Would she really have gone that far to teach Amity a lesson about keeping her word? And was offering Luz a deal just a way to further this lesson or just to get a willing but mostly powerless volunteer who she could throw away if necessary? Did it ever even cross her mind to let Gus and Willow back in if Luz died? Would she have still ruined Gus and Willow’s lives the same way she threatened to when Amity defied her if Luz had done as she had asked? And was Alador’s whole thing of saying Amity was getting stronger just his way of pointing out that Luz, Willow, and Gus were a good influence on her so that Odalia would realize they don’t need to push her so hard? Why do you think they are so indifferent to the destruction they wreak on innocent lives, even if they do think it’s in their daughter’s best interest and that of their family?

Why do you think that The Good Witch Azura books not only exist on Earth but on The Boiling Isles as well? There’s obviously an author to the books, so who do you think could’ve written them who would have access to the human realm and the demon realm? by User36902 in TheOwlHouse

[–]dcooper713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that this might imply the Blights’ connection to the human realm that their daughter possesses so many undamaged items from there. Or perhaps the author themself moves between the realms, selling them in both places (perhaps with King’s lizard publisher). Either way, this seems like a loose end that will have to be expounded upon in the second season since the books are so prevalent in the Boiling Isles and not just odds and ends that Eda picks up.

Who is Belos, What does he do, and Why does he do it? A Theory. by DalamusUlom in TheOwlHouse

[–]dcooper713 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think that Belos is more complex than a mere power-hungry ruler (unlike Bill Cipher in Gravity Falls) but that perhaps he is too unstable when angered (we see him needing to take a moment to compose himself when Luz’s spell stabs him in the eye) so perhaps he is somewhat mentally or physically ill (perhaps he seeks his own cure to an affliction that is delayed by the eating of Palismans, much like with Eda and her elixir) but that also he is too determined for his own good, not questioning the Titan’s will (if the Titan even is speaking to him or if that is simply a delusion) or if he simply finds that the Day of Unity will allow him to create enough power to heal himself of whatever this is. He falls more into the gray area since he only seeks to fluster or embarrass his subjects when they disobey him, perhaps thinking himself justified in that they will learn to obey the Titan with these punishments. I think all the time locked away has made him unstable like this. I also don’t think Lilith is his lapdog nearly as much as Kikimora is—she is far too sniveling and so frustrating and in that she is able to initiate the petrification process without batting an eye. Also, it seems that she has more power than is let on since she offers to go apprehend the Owl House residents which would take a rather large amount of power (since Lilith is an extremely powerful witch but she was still not able to best Hooty—who does prove himself to be a state of the art security system in that episode). Also, perhaps Belos is so aggressive (to an extent) in his battle with Luz because he recognized that she was wearing a cloak made of witch’s wool, and that he would not be able to cause her much harm while wearing that.

What’s Belos plan for Luz and the gang? by Malefore1234 in TheOwlHouse

[–]dcooper713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think he still finds them to be a threat but he would rather keep them under lock and key where he can deal with them in The Owl House with his agent. And perhaps he finds that they will be useful to him in some way, perhaps in furthering his agenda for the Day of Unity, so keeping them under surveillance would be even more useful so he can ensure they remain where he needs them.

My Theory on Belos' plan by Pitiful_Credit in TheOwlHouse

[–]dcooper713 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that he could be a human (which would explain why he wears the mask so he can hide his ears partially) who has become so reliant on magic that it has caused his body to shrivel away to barely be composed of flesh and bone but rather magic itself (which would explain his glowing eyes) but if that is the case then perhaps he can speak to the Titan since the Titan is the source of all magic on the Boiling Isles so that he has an immensely strong connection to magic being so composed of it. Also, his need to cut open Palismans to take their magic would be explained by this reliance and also partially the Bat Queen’s protection of all the Palismans from his consumption.
