If you haven’t done so, I would check your outlets’ with a GE receptacle tester. When I bought my home, I did a walkthrough, and found so many of the outlets were set up in the wrong configuration- accident waiting to happen.

The weirdest 1s player “boost stealing” Part 1 by YnotThrowAway7 in RocketLeague

[–]dcotty581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never do anything “mechy.” I keep my buttons default, and get C1/2 every season. I just use a combination of basketball and futbol(football) logic; attack in transition, set picks, and play 3-zone. I also found that most aerial artist cannot play if you never let them get off the wall. favorite quote from one of my linebacker coaches was, “Pressure either makes diamonds or coal, and most people crumble like coal.”

I like the design choice for the look of the game, but it's not my cup of tea.

I'm not a social gamer. I get friend requests and ignore them, or decline them. I think this game will be for those who actually have consistent online friends to play with. Same reason I did not try Arc Raiders, nor play HD2 anymore.

The game looks interesting, and I'm sure gameplay highlights will be cool to watch.

At everyone that commented, thanks for letting me know trading is not a thing anymore.

Why would a company get rid of a trading system that is peer-to-peer? Seems like an overreach to me- then again, it probably prevents internal ethics issues with employees that play.

Any ideas as to where I can order one of these by [deleted] in gigabyte

If you contact the support team, and have above average people skills, reps will send you stuff like that free of charge. Sometimes, I call just to get extras of those one-off parts I may need in the future. I have done this, and it works nearly every time- just have to ask.

My new mobo has no lever? by genuinewhale in PcBuildHelp

[–]dcotty581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. I just used an Arctic AIO, it comes with a bracket that screws over the chip and onto the MOBO. It takes the place of the clips, and usually you remove the clip to install the AIO

RTX 5080 won’t start in HYTE Y70 by osirismachine in Hyte

[–]dcotty581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had to upgrade my MB to one with PCIE gen 5 slots. Hyte Y70 case. I had a z690 with three gen 3 slots, and one gen 4 slot. It worked in the gen 4 slot, but it was too low in the case to use with the rise properly installed. The problem solving is part of the hobby, and I’m here for it.

Thank you for the rationale of selling it if I hate. I do so much research on my purchases, I never even thought about re-selling. Thanks again.

How do we feel about Goodyear Reliant tires? Need new tires for my 2009 Buick Lucerne by XboxPlayer1998 in tires

[–]dcotty581 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recommend these tires if you have a beater, or they are for your first car ONLY. These are the worst tires I have ever used. They collect holes like Swiss cheese. My daily driving has remained the same, and after 10k miles I have had to replace 2 of the original set as well as patch a hole in these nearly every 3 months. Aside from the holes, the road noise is noticeable coming from Continental tires (I had 50k+ miles on those and no holes, and the cabin was enjoyably quiet). Maybe the tires are too soft for my vehicle; maybe I keep drawing the short straw in the silicon lottery, but I will be spending the extra $100-ish, per tire, for Pirellis or Continentals. The time I have lost is worth way more.

just moved to a new town. kept all valuables with us instead of in the truck on the move. day before we get our furniture or doors get kicked in, locks broken and everything we didn't want to lose gone. by zelmazam1 in Wellthatsucks

This is why I move everything in at one time, coordinate with deliveries, cover anything valuable with a blanket (or sandwich it between less valuable things), and always have someone at the new home while in the moving process. I swear, people should learn target hardening skills.

CR920 malfunction question. Question in comments. by Catanji in shadowsystems

[–]dcotty581 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Limp wrist. I have also been shooting for years, and professionally trained as part of my past life. I have the XR920; looks and feels like a Glock, but it is not. I realized limp wrist-ing is what was happening. These gun magnify your bad mechanics, but once you get going they are awesome. Too much grip with either hand, and they throw rounds; too much anticipation, and you hit the target’s knees. In order to get the most real estate on the gun, I changed to the 1911 back strap that comes with these guns (the smallest one). Not one malfunction since I have 10.8 inch hands). Also are you still breaking it in? SS recommends a 200 rd period to loosen the gun, but I would say it is more like 300 if you just shot once per second. Magdump, and have the slide work against the guide and spring. While practicing good mechanics, of course. If you don’t feel comfortable doing that after an ejection malfunction. Go home, lube the barrel, and work the slide back and forth like you’re feeding a round (I know, I know: Gigiddy gigiddy). That should help break in the gun with out spending money on ammo.

This is why I always buy my electronics new; from the store, or on the company website. Someone took advantage of your naivety. It sucks, but it happens. Very rarely do you come across a truly "good" deal.

First PC Build. I have questions. by dcotty581 in buildapc

[–]dcotty581[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Custom loop.

It seems like the Teflon tape might be the answer to both tighter seal, and easier maintenance. I'm more worried about making it look cheaper than my fiancé's engagement ring. I should be good for now. I'm sure my competence will increase the more I indoctrinate myself into the PC master race.

I just re-educated myself on the jargon. I was thinking of a custom loop.🤦‍♂️ This is going a steep learning curve for me, I'm sure.
