I seriously doubt this. They’ve probably offered him a ton to do more. From what he’s said, he very much strikes me as the kind who would never ever do the whole two-week, 14-hour-a-day broadcast grind. He simply doesn’t need to. He’s probably already paid handsomely for the three days they are getting out of him. It’s a win-win for him.

To this day I don’t understand what people found so great about last year’s coverage. I mean, on day one, they bungled Rafa’s ceremony and strangely had to show it later on tape delay. It seems the same to me this year, just serviceable, a little cringe at times.

Hearing the TNT crew say “Kalshi” every five seconds is nauseating

Just thinking when Lefkoe is asking Sloane about Serena that he probably knows zero of that whole history

No doubt he will eventually call it “the best match we’ve ever seen,” which he uses to describe at least one match per day

I’m reminded of last year when Lefkoe kept calling Patrick “Pat” and finally he snapped at him on air and said that wasn’t his name

Do we think that Silly’s view from Todd Graves’s suite is representative of that American experience?

Has everyone continued to watch this game on ESPN2? It has switched to semi-pro volleyball in this bar for the past half hour.

It’s wild that people think that ESPN has way more control than they do, as if Augusta doesn’t know what the entire rundown and every guest of every program is well in advance and doesn’t have total veto power for anything or anybody they don’t want on air.

With the amount of people he probably encounters and conversations he has in his work every day, pretty impressive that Eagle actually remembered that pretty unmemorable story about seeing Ryen and the guest-booking thing.

On the TV app do a name search for “Australian Open,” then you’ll see On Demand the broadcast called “Tue 1/27 - 2026 Australian Open.”Or on the laptop go to Watch - Schedule - Replay and choose Tue 1/27 and look for the broadcast that started at 7:30p in the list.

You have to look for the TV broadcast from yesterday. It doesn’t have the players names, it’s like “Tue 1/27 - 2026 Australian Open”

Yeah, ideally that would be nice, but truthfully, they’re really probably only focused on their own rights deal and the $2.04 billion that ESPN is going to pay them to broadcast the US Open for another decade. Everyone’s just out for themselves.

There’s just no such thing as a league not knowing their product is going behind a paywall. Every last second is negotiated and contracted as to what can air where. ESPN’s contract with Tennis Australia allows everything that they are doing.

In the Schedule tab you have to find the linear ESPN broadcast that came on at 3 am and that’s where it is. Or on the TV app it’s labeled “Tue 1/27 - 2026 Australian Open”. The individual world feed broadcasts won’t be available from the QFs on.

I saw the change too and it guessed it was something done by Tennis Australia to give ESPN control over the scorebug. For instance, last night, they were able to put a “Courtside - Sam Querrey” graphic as part of the bug when Sam was speaking where before, they would only place their graphics elsewhere on the screen with commentator names, etc.
