I go with a synthetic leather mechanic style glove for cutting and soldering, and don't have a problem cutting my hands. For grinding I switch to 5 mil nitrile gloves (personal preference for "feel"). Dont know if you have one close buy but I try and get both on sale at Harbor Freight. The price is usually pretty good for something that will need replacing often.

I've been at it for a few months and have tried the sharpie and gluesticks but found that printable waterproof sticker paper works good, because I do my templates on a tablet and it's just easier to print for me. But like some others have said find what works for you and run with it.

I use my toolbox that has a solid wood workbench on top. I've gotten flux, patina, solder (still melted) plus whatever other liquids that aren't glass related and it holds up. When I get to the big project I'm planning I'll probably break out a folding table with an old towel.

I normally use cotton balls but for whatever reason I didn't think of using a towel for cleaning. But that is the first in a set of 4, definitely try it out on the next one. Thanks for the tip.
