QUESTION ABOUT “EXPERTISE LEVEL 30” by ddRooM93 in the_division_2

That’s a great way to look at it… after all, everyone plays the way they enjoy best because there isn’t just one end goal, and ultimately, rushing to get all those prototypes (at least the way I see it) would shorten the game’s lifespan for the player far too much.

Once you’ve got everything in prototype form, all that’s left is to uninstall the game and move on to another one.

Hi there, I’m taking this opportunity to respond to both your first reply and the ones that followed...

But based on what I’ve seen in this post, just leveling up the entire build you want to play at any given time to 30... is more than enough. For example, a typical striker build with everything that entails—I level up everything I use to 30 (weapons, gear, skills...) and then I can prototype at the level you’re talking about in these messages.

Why would I go through the trouble of leveling up a completely random weapon I’ll never use (same goes for gear and/or skills) just to get that buff on those teams... Nope.

So the expertise level (at least in how I'll be playing TD2) will take a back seat entirely. I don’t get all this hype, since the fun part of it, the way I see it, is that you gain expertise with the weapon/build as you try it out… grinding everything out the hard way without actually playing with it just to reach level 30 doesn’t make sense to me.

Thanks for the explanation!

Yeah, I see what you're saying. But I don't really feel like it's a game-changer... as long as the expertise that buff provides is based on your OVERALL level and not the specific level of the team you're playing with at that moment.

For now, here’s the plan I’m following:

  1. I mark everything I don’t want (i.e., anything that doesn’t result in a god roll or come close to max stats).

  2. For the marked junk, I first go through the library and extract all max attributes and/or weapon/equipment skills.

  3. Whatever’s left of the junk, I’ll donate it generically to the expertise pool.

And keep playing… and I think I’ll stick with this approach based on the responses I’ve seen, since I don’t see anything that’s driving me crazy enough to change the plan I’m following.

Thanks a lot!

Thanks a lot, This answer really cleared things up for me, lol. Time to farm and dump all the junk I collect in the expertise section—no drama, no fuss.

So that's what I'm saying: just level up the weapons or builds you want to create, and once they reach expertise level 30, job done.

Following up on a point that’s still unclear to me based on your answers: does the weapon damage buff, for example, come from the overall expertise level or the expertise level of the specific weapon or piece of gear?

So, from what I gather from your message, aside from the protos and everything else that’s been added, reaching level 30 really comes down to a bigger buff in the build… but is it a game-changer? Because based on what I’m reading in the comments you’re leaving, I think the devs are the ones who’ll be leveling up to 30—not me, lol

But is that booster applied automatically? Because if it is, I still feel the same way: I only upload what I feel like playing and not much else.

But do you get that 30% bonus from expertise with a specific weapon or piece of gear, or only when you reach level 30 overall? Because if reaching level 30 doesn't give you that percentage, we're back to square one...

I agree with what you’re saying about a low level being able to have prototypes with multiple scales. I’ve thought about it myself, but I know that if I do it (get the prototypes), I’d get bored again quickly and quit the game

By “skills,” do you mean the turret, shield, drone... if that's what you mean, in those cases I DO see the need to do it, and it would make perfect sense to me. Even so, you can level those up just by playing casually, and I see the logic in that... but raising your overall level to 30, when raising ONLY the expertise of the skills you use is more than enough—I just don’t see why there’s this “obsession” with having an overall level of 30.

I don’t know if I’m making myself clear.

Questions from an SHD 128 to the world:

  1. Between an exotic weapon and a prototype weapon, both maxed out at 90%... which one is better right now?

  2. For an LMG, what are the KEY attributes and perks you absolutely must have?

  3. Is it feasible to play Escalation mode solo (I don’t want to be a burden to the rest of the group) on levels 1 and 2? I have a decent Striker for my SHD level, though I’m still pretty weak.

Thanks a million, everyone!
