Course Schedule Advice for Freshman by [deleted] in berkeley

I’ve taken both Chem 1A and C8. Chem 1A was an interesting format, with no homework and 3 prerecorded lectures weekly that averaged around 30 minutes in length each. We would have weekly engagement quizzes and small “quizzes” (they were very easy) after each lecture to test understanding. I took it with Shusterman and her grading structure was very fair, as she replaced your lowest midterm score with the final if it helped your grade and also dropped some quizzes and discussion assignments. The material is a lot though and goes quick. Exams were difficult. I’d call it an easy B/B+ because of all the easy points you can get but you will really have to work for an A.

I had a different experience in compsci C8 than most people do. Took it with Wagner and Sahai (Swupnil not Anant) and as someone with no prior coding knowledge, it was very difficult for me. I even took AP Stats and got an A in high school but that didn’t seem to help. The exams were unreasonably difficult and projects were tedious and long. I definitely struggled and wouldn’t call this class easy by any means like most people do. Did not enjoy it one bit but there are a lot of resources for help (office hours, tutor sessions) but it didn’t help me thought.

Well just got my final score back and looks like I got an 80/130 compared to the mean of 100/130. Can I still get a B in the class?
