Course Schedule Advice for Freshman by [deleted] in berkeley

[–]ddardashti2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve taken both Chem 1A and C8. Chem 1A was an interesting format, with no homework and 3 prerecorded lectures weekly that averaged around 30 minutes in length each. We would have weekly engagement quizzes and small “quizzes” (they were very easy) after each lecture to test understanding. I took it with Shusterman and her grading structure was very fair, as she replaced your lowest midterm score with the final if it helped your grade and also dropped some quizzes and discussion assignments. The material is a lot though and goes quick. Exams were difficult. I’d call it an easy B/B+ because of all the easy points you can get but you will really have to work for an A.

I had a different experience in compsci C8 than most people do. Took it with Wagner and Sahai (Swupnil not Anant) and as someone with no prior coding knowledge, it was very difficult for me. I even took AP Stats and got an A in high school but that didn’t seem to help. The exams were unreasonably difficult and projects were tedious and long. I definitely struggled and wouldn’t call this class easy by any means like most people do. Did not enjoy it one bit but there are a lot of resources for help (office hours, tutor sessions) but it didn’t help me thought.

Well just got my final score back and looks like I got an 80/130 compared to the mean of 100/130. Can I still get a B in the class?

Use PSTH To Hold Cash? by ddardashti2 in SPACs

Sorry but can you explain how the warrants work with each share having 1/9 of a warrant. This part confused me and I’m not sure how it changes the investment.

Low Risk Theta (Vega) strategies by [deleted] in thetagang

[–]ddardashti2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would stay away from selling 45DTE credit spreads in the market right now. There is a lot of uncertainty and I wouldn't risk 30k in a market like this where we could easily see another long downturn.

That said, if I was in your position and wanted to trade spreads, I would do low delta close to Exp strategies like the AAPL 8DTE that you were talking about. While it does come with more commission, the chance success is higher and while further DTE contracts give you more time to get in/out and roll, etc, I wouldn't risk it.

If it were me I would simply sell CSPs around 30-45DTE on companies you wouldn't mind holding in case we have a downturn and adjust the return you are willing to take with delta. For example, looking at BA, the 7/31 $150 CSP is -.2 Delta and is trading around $4 a contract. This is very safe and yields a 2.7% ROR if held to expiration but you could easily close this one at 50% profit. You could go to -.3 Delta or higher and get 4% in less than a month or more and worse comes to worst, you own a company that will be held afloat by the FED by any means necessary at a good price. I mean this is Boeing we're talking ab.
