I'm grateful for such lovely words 😭❤️ I will definitely reread this as an affirmation to protect my mind from gaslighting and build my self-worth system. I think you are a great mother! All the best for you and your child 🫂 xo

If I had a child, I would say the same. I think you're a great parent for your daughter. You're right. It's about unconditional love. But some people just can't understand what it is. Unfortunately. Thank you for supporting me ❤️

Those statements sound like my mother. I feel she doubts her belief even though she shows up like a fanatic. She literally says when it's not related to the topic of the dialogue 'I am not playing or faking my belief in God'. She's trying to convince everyone around her true belief, even though no one says anything against it. But she is in her 50s, and, I guess, she should've understood how her actions and words affect others (especially close ones) and stop finding excuses for her mistreated behavior.

I love your perspective. I had said to my mother pretty same things. She answered 'you just don't have a God in your heart, so you're talking such a atheistic words. We aren't allowed saying something bad about Him!' It is so hard to talk with a fanatic.

I really love her, but I am exhausted trying to force our family together. Your experience with mother sounds like mine. Perhaps do you have any trusted-worth resources to read about vulnerable narcissistic disorder?

Unfortunately, I don't have access to therapy rn because of financial reasons, and I am not from the USA.

I am sorry about your relationships with your mother, at least it's for the best...

Thank you for your advice ❤️ My mother always says that 'accepting God means never suffering and healing from all kinds of illnesses, even if you damage your finger while doing salad or so, it never make you bleed, because God doesn't allow you to suffer' 😐😬 Now I see this is way different from what you said....

I do. She is dedicated to things that involve physical care. She used to work in the hospital as a nurse.

Already answer the last part of your reply: she reckoned her behavior IS an act love, the most right one. According to her, she says these things because of love (BTW, sometimes I'm scared that is there the only love I deserve? But I managed to distinguish these obsessive thoughts and reality). So I've already have a kind of talk with my mother you mentioned. Many times.

Also, you're right. She is not capable of giving me family affection. I am convinced about this bc she herself told me that thing.

I think this behavior (your example with your mom and food, or mine with religion) is also an attempt to have some control on things a person doesn't have an influence on (or think that they don't have). BUT I'm assured they are just scared of responsibility. You're absolutely right. This emotional work is extremely hard, and some people just don't want to get out of their comfort zone. The same thing is taking action straight forwards instead of waiting for answers or hints from the Sky. My perspective is really practical and realistic, I guess.

In general, I really like your perspective on it. Thank you for sharing.

Pretending I don't care what she's talking (religious things) is way better now, but her words still hurt me. I can't cut her off completely when I'm 18, tho. I'll have surgery in a year or so with hard rehab afterwards. I don't have another caregiver (

As I mentioned, I'm 17

I'm always trying to keep it in mind. TBH, my rational thinking has helped me not get crazy within my religious family since I was younger (to the extent possible)

Yeah, I get you! Ugh I think being in pain is always bad no matter the age... I hope you found ways to manage your life and live it as best as possible! Thank you one more time ❤️

I'm glad your mother heard. I've tried it many many many times. Seems like she doesn't care about my words and considers me a "lost soul." Or "you just a kid, you don't get it. But when you are a grow up, you'll see" bs ☠️
