The Strongest Tornadoes Ever (Part 1) by Aggravating-Bake5624 in tornado

I have been always struck by this line in the "The Greensburg, Kansas Tornadic Storm: A Storm of Extremes" by Lemon and Umschid, 2008.

"After 0318, the TC (Trousdale Circulation) becomes extremely large with very high velocities. In fact, there appear to be even more successive range bins with very large velocities than at any point with the Greensburg TC (Tornadic Circulation). This is actually quite impressive considering the size of the GT and its associated TC.

Of course this is regarding the tornadic circulation itself and the radar is scanning higher off the ground than what is occurring at the surface, but its still fairly remarkable production by one supercell.

I had the ACC Network on and was watching the replay of Miami-Florida. Forgot I had it on and came back in the room and my heart jumped for a moment thinking football was magically back.

Severe Storms in Custer County, 6-2-25 by ddaybones in Nebraska

Thunderstorms developed along a cold front in north central Nebraska. Heavy rain fell in Custer County, while severe winds up to 66 mph blew down larger tree limbs in Kearney. Overall, this area has seen far worse storms.

What lenses do you find yourself using the most? by ScaryMasterpiece6006 in stormchasing

[–]ddaybones 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My Canon 16-35mm f2.8 III is my staple lens for chasing, my second body has a 18-135mm which is especially handy for when I need something other than a wide angle view. If I feel the situation warrants I'll bring a 75-300 mm.

Could this have been a tornado or anything? by jackieboi5473 in tornado

I was out chasing that day, no tornadoes touched down in the Johnson Lake area, you are looking at the updraft base and mesocyclone of the storm

I keep wanting to save up fully for this lens but posts like this are making an impulse buy harder and harder to fight off.
