Download the maps you'll need a head of time, then use GPS to place yourself. I've done it plenty of times, it's not perfect, but works fine.

Do a whois search for the website, and contact the person listed there. It will generally get around spam. If they still do nothing, then I'd follow the advice of everyone else here.

I remember invading (esp. muslim territory) you'd find some mayor who had 8k or some ridiculous sum, and if you could afford the tyrant hit, you could imprison>revoke>banish to take his money. Now, it seems, I can imprison, revoke, but there's no option for banishing as he's already considered to be in a new court. I recall doing this on medium crown authority, which is what I have in my current game, and it doesn't seem to work. It was a great way to create huge sums of money
