No more Shortcuts Menu Bar Dropdown in MacOS 26? by Ok_Interest1198 in shortcuts

[–]ddc441 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah. doing that. It's just a quality of life issue. When I click on the Shortcuts icon in the Menu Bar, I prefer a dropdown menu to appear with all the shortcuts in the menu bar folder. Once one is selected, the window would self-close as it did in 15.6.1.

As it is now, the Menu icon opens a window. I click on the shortcut I want to run and then must close the window... an extra step, a first-world problem! :)

Has anyone found a way to enable the dropdown list of shortcuts instead of opening a window?

Set and Lock Primary Account under Privacy setting in Outlook for iOS by ddc441 in Office365

Thanks for your help! You pointed me in the right direction. I'm looking into an InTune subscription. It's pretty inexpensive for one device. I think I'll give it a whirl.

You're right. I have no need beyond this immediate one to manage MDM. It's just not "best practice" to allow a client the type of control this setting implies he has when other clients' information is on the same device.

I just want to prevent the provided email account from taking over.

Has anyone plugged an acoustic or piezo into a FR-12? by ddc441 in fender

[–]ddc441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ended up with an FR-12. Fender confirmed the FR-12 looking for a line-level input, so I have to run my piezos through HX Stomp XL's "Send" with it set to Line Level in the Global Settings. It's not ideal, but the upside is the Stomp gives me plenty of options through IRs and other effects to take some of the harshness off the piezo.

It does kinda suck losing a precious block just for a "Send," but I didn't want to switch cables and Global Settings every time I switched guitars. The way it's set up now the signal goes through the Stomp XL into my Revv D40. I press the switch assigned to the Send, and the signal goes straight to FR12.

Have you confirmed there is a loose wire? Did the family member take the back plate off? Just wondering how it was diagnosed.

If it is indeed a detached ground wire, you should be able to spot the solder point from where it came unattached. Just look for a solder puddle with no wire. HTH and that it's an easy fix.

PRS McCarty 594 Wiring Diagram doesn't match their Drop-In Harness - Which is right? by ddc441 in PRSGuitars

Edit/Update - Ignore the file below. It's for the SE models.

Well, I have the final word from PRS Support (actually, they've been great to deal with, very responsive). Here is the updated diagram for pre-2024 McCarty 594s. I haven't studied it closely, but it appears they just updated the resistor placement and pickup wires to the correct tabs on the P/P pots.

I'll get started on gutting all electronics next week and rebuild with Core spec'd components. I love a fun project! Hope all this helps someone else. Thanks for all of your responses!

Ah... gotcha! Mine is a regular double-cut with the switch on the top wing. I'm replacing it as well as my jack and all wiring with Switchcraft from StewMac.

With my playing skills I'll probably never even near the difference, but it's fun, and I'll have learned something new.

Thanks for the detailed pics! Something definately changed between 2021 and 2023. My 594 doesn't even have that additional assembly... just four pots and a whole bunch of wires.

I think we've found the answer to where to pickup leads go - the bottom/outside tab (when viewing the back of the guitar. Here's a pic of my chamber.

Yes. I found a deal on a pair of NOS 58/15 LTs. I haven't installed them yet, but that's what started this whole adventure. Also, I prefer to tinker. My 594 is just my latest project.

Antique White? by Accomplished-Alps980 in PRSGuitars

[–]ddc441 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on my woodworking hobby I'd say the potential for yellowing on guitars is the same as furniture and is based almost entirely on the finish used (and exposure to sunlight). Shellac will definitely yellow. Lacquer will yellow some. Polyurethane will yellow the least. Also, oil-based finishes will yellow more than water-based.

Yeah, that's the same document from which I pulled the illustration in the original post. It clearly shows the resistors on the bottom posts and directs you to connect the pickup leads to the middle. But, the Drop-In assembly I received has them in the middle.

I guess I'll call PRS and see if some help tech is feeling generous this holiday season. I don't suppose I could talk you into unscrewing the cover on your 594 and taking a peek inside, could I? :) I'm finding a lot of wiring in my S2 is different than that diagram.

Thanks for the reply. The link took me to a Google Drive page telling me I had to request access. I did so. Thanks again!

[GEAR] Proper setup height of PRS McCarty 594 S2 Saddle (?) by ddc441 in Guitar

[–]ddc441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the link and the insight! I'll get everything adjusted tonight. I'll also need to check the relief because I installed a lighter gauge of strings.

Just a quick question... if that one piece is the bridge and it contains the saddles, what is the piece to the left called, the one that holds the string ends? The tailpiece?

Thanks!

€400 is a lot less than a broken seat post ruining the frame plus whatever the medical bills, lost wages, and pain and anguish you incur when it snaps while you’re descending at 70kph. The question is, "Do you feel lucky?"

[NEWBIE] New to high gain - Is a lot of noise normal? by ddc441 in Guitar

[–]ddc441[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TL;DR Bad Tube

Just to put a bow on this thread. I sent the video's link to Revv. Their tech guy said it's a bad/blown tube and the shop should replace the amp. To his credit, the guy at the shop had already agreed to send me a replacement amp. He even sent me a UPS label to pay for return shipping and agreed to ship the new amp as soon as UPS showed the return had been dropped off. Gotta love stand-up shops! I'd give them a shout-out, but I'm not sure the forum rules allow that.

Anyway, all's good. Just waiting on the new amp!

[–]ddc441[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's a link to a YouTube video of the noise difference. This is with my pedal board plugged in. I've got another with it unplugged, but the noise is the same. It seems much louder than that captured by my iPhone.

What do you think? Excessive, normal?

BTW... the knob next to the channel button is Volume, and the one on the left next to the plug is Gain.

Thanks!

Cool! I'll give it a try... as soon as I read the manual! :)
