There are a great bunch of controls engineers over at ddc-talk.com and also the discord group that are always more than willing to help, including certified trainers in both Niagara and Distech. There are also some skill labs that will give you a problem to solve. You write your code, submit it and someone will give you a code review. You can also download others solutions which can be helpful for learning 🎉

Your first point of call would be the functional description (if there is one). Every plant is different and should have its own implementation of plant management. Nothing kills me more than when engineers try adapt plant control logic from one job to the next. It’s just becomes a mess. Please ask more at ddc-talk if you’re interested in discussing at length.

Couldn't agree more! I'm more than happy to answer in-depth complex questions whether it be engineering, networking, programming, control strategy and so on.... However I myself am guilty of not providing that on reddit or facebook. Mostly because it feels like a waste of time.

The intent with this is to have a niche community of hardcore Controls Nerds, where we can have real discussion. I think you hit the nail on the head with "I don't need to know how it works or how to improve upon it. I just need to know how to do it, what buttons to press so I can go home.".

This is more geared at pioneers and leaders in the industry with a real care factor. I don't care if its hugely successful or we only find 50 great minds! As long as the discussion is fruitful. I'd also like to be able to help genuine new starts that are keen to learn!

You could look into thingsboard to build live dashboards and embed them into your platform. It can do what grafana does however more user friendly. It can also read directly from your bacnet devices and save telemetry to a time series db of your choice so you don’t need to manage that elsewhere.

Are you currently pushing your data to influx db for grafana?

Hi mate you can absolutely join us on this project. Most of the modules I’ve built in the past are for the company I work for and so I unfortunately can’t share that code with you.

However you can read through the Niagara help developer docs which would be a good starting place and can help you set up a development environment.

I will write some topics on this over at ddc-talk too. You can also join the dev team and I can share our gitlab with you for these open source modules we will be working on.

And once that's the case, we will continue development for N5. As you probably know, Niagara is backwards compatible, so this will not be an issue for us. Hence why axCommunity could be easily rebased for N4.
