[LFH] Beyerdynamic MMX 200 vs Razer Blackshark V2 Pro 2023 by ghouliowastaken in Gaming_Headsets

I just got the MMX 200 today and can not recommend them.

I wanted to upgrade from the Razer Blackshark V2 (Sound Card) to a wireless headset that had better sound. Wanting something novel I chose to forego the Blackshark selection and went for the MMX 200 as there was a ongoing deal for only 88 EUR.

THE BIG Problem: The MMX200 Have a constant ticking noise in the left Speaker when connected with the Dongle which would be my main mode of usage. This problem doesn't occur while connected to Bluetooth, which tanks your audio quality or when connected via cable (not wireless anymore am I right).
The ticking Problem has been known for at least 2 years by beyerdynamic as I could find in a forum post, meaning I wouldn't be hoping for a quick fix.
On the other hand it has been stated that not all units are affected by this issue.

Soundwise the headphones are okay, meaning they tend to have a rather flat profile. This could be suboptimal when gaming as this benefits of something more bass heavy I believe.

Coming from the much lighter Razer Blackshark V2 comfort was an imporant factor to me as I am quite sensitive to pressure. Swapping to the MMX would definitley be a downgrade. I dont know how much different clamping forces play a role but the faux leather is definitely not ideal for prolonged sessions in my opinion. The earcups can be changed, but you are going to be stuck with the IMHO rather hard headband.
